Haggling usually doesn't end well. They are poor as FK.
It puts a strain on the relationship and affects attitude and performance.
Once she gets paid a certain amount anything less will feel like a demotion.
They see it as more sessions more work less pay. We see it as them trying to break the ATM versus appreciate the ATM.
They will float the idea for a weekly rate or monthly, but refuse to be paid after that time period.
Now I think if a chica claims she really likes you, it should be 200 or 300 max.
It is frustrating and gets even more strange when the chica is a no cash "civilian" working me over for food attention small gifts or trips.

Bello is sweet.
Sorta feels like Medellin did 20 years ago.
No doubt it will become very popular.
You can search google for hotels just like anywhere.
Next time I go, will take my cell so I can get fotos.
Yeah be careful with your cellphones around town.

Well, this gets to a part of the central point I'm trying to make. It's a public policy decision about who to target for what, and in which way. There's no problem currently with "picking on" deadbeat dads and not letting them travel for the reasons you note, and more. If public policy was such that we wanted to pick on "Weird Waldos" too and not let them travel, then we could do that too, and their supposed rights be damned. People need to remember that virtually none of our rights are absolute, and they can be regulated (it's a balancing act though since regulations can't be over broad or seen as unreasonably burdensome). It's pretty universally agreed though that in general, criminals should not enjoy the exact same rights and privileges as law-abiding citizens do. Sometimes even if the convict may have already served time for what they did (seems unfair but depending on the crime this can happen). The bottom line is that sex offender travel could be more strictly curtailed if that's what our government wanted to do as a matter of public policy (they would find a way to justify it believe me). But still, the fact of the matter is that travel restrictions are placed on the citizenry by the government all the time, and for a multitude of different reasons. And for both things that people have done in the past, and for things it's feared they might do in the future. I have a friend who got into some legal trouble in the past, and for now she can't even legally travel outside of her own damn state, let alone outside of the entire country!

Posts: 2926Picking on deadbeat dads makes for better political theater, especially among female voters. It is also more profitable for the government, as it gets to collect interest payments on child support arrears. On the other hand, it only makes money off Weird Waldos when they are incarcerated and used for prison labor. Also, in some States, men end up on the list simply because they got drunk, relieved their bladder in public, and a woman happened to pass by and record them on a cellphone with their dick out for the cops. Taking a leak in public is not a crime punishable by imprisonment in Colombia. It is an administrative offense punishable by a fine in excess of COP $700,000. Homeless persons without access to public toilets are exempt from punitive fines. So, a person on the sex offender list because he "exposed himself" while taking a leak in public may not be considered an inadmissible alien in Colombia.

Hey guys. I'll be in Medellin 6/12 to 6/22 if anyone wants to split bottle costs at one of the strip clubs or Lleras clubs. I speak Spanish fluently. Message me if you'd like.
Cheers.

Posts: 18757I always say I am from Brazil, so maybe that is why I have never had any problems in centro or Santa Fe or anywhere else! Even in Brazil I say I am from Brazil. They say but your accent. I say I am from Salvador. Then they are like that explains it.

Posts: 477I agree with what you and others have posted here. Not to mention, the crime committed in areas like Belen, El Centro and the Botero area especially at night go unreported.

Posts: 285See, this is what I mean when one starts looking at statistics that are lacking key information. People then jump to conclusions that are not statistically correct or accurate in any way. These are not conclusions to go by. Without any actual data, I'm pretty sure the number one group that suffers the most from crimes are local Colombians themselves, because they are the largest population there. Secondly, I'm pretty sure that the largest amount of crimes occur in the most crowded locations.

Posts: 2143OP. Thanks for posting the data. Interesting.
I agree with this analysis below. Absolute numbers without the context of the denominator can skew the perception. It would be reasonable to assume that there are 50 times more gringos in Poblado compared to Belen (may be even more). So if the absolute numbers, the crimes are 14 X then you are 75% less likely to be robbed or hurt in Poblado compared to Belen.

Posts: 285That is not how you read those statistics. For example, if Poblado hypothetically hosts 20 times more foreign tourists than Belen but sees only 14 times more total crime, a tourist's individual risk is actually higher in Belen. Because Poblado's massive influx of visitors outpaces its volume of offenses, its tourist crime rate is only 70% of Belen's, meaning a traveler in Belen is 1.43 times more likely to encounter crime than one in Poblado.

Result, more data is needed to make an accurate assessment.

Looking to visit March time next year and reports on here are great, much appreciated.
A report mentioned setting up a Fbook page to connect with girls.
I did this and it hasn't been successful so far, not sure if I've done something wrong or it's no longer a valid method.
