Questions for you and any other MAGAs here: Why didn't President Joe Biden fight tooth and nail to undo the deal Trump made with OPEC to raise the price of oil and gas starting in 2020 and continuing until at least 2022, especially since loser ex-president Trump was leading the MAGA rants then as now about how terrible, terrible, terrible it was that Sleepy Joe allowed or rather made the price of oil and gas rise during that time? And on a related topic, why didn't President Joe Biden immediately undo all of the tariffs Trump applied to various products when he took office?

Posts: 2560LOL, yes Eisenhower starting the Vietnam War and Tump the pandemic are hilarious. I went back and forth with Tooms over the twin recessions that occurred during the tail end of Carter's term and the first of Reagan's. The appointment of Paul Volker to replace partisan hack William Miller as Fed chairman was the cause. Volker wisely raised interest rates sky high which caused the recession. Tooms of course absolved Carter, who appointed Volker, and blamed Reagan.

Remember when Obama told an entrepreneur that he didn't build his business, the government did? That's exactly the attitude you're describing above among many Democrats. Well, his state and local government may have helped him out, but most likely the Feds didn't do jack except to make his life more difficult.
And yes, Democratic politicians now want 50% of the population to be exempt from the income tax and receive much, much more in Medicare and other health benefits than they and their employers pay in. Then they think theyll pay for everything under the sun by taxing the wealthiest Americans. Its not mathematically possible and may indeed cause the downfall of the Republic.
I've given up on Spidy. I had hopes that I could persuade Tooms to think independently but I'm about to throw in the towel. Is he sucking off the government teet? Or has the main stream left media made it so he can't think for himself? Does he suffer from Stockholm Syndrome? Given he was a successful businessman in California I favored the latter theory. But I don't know.

Posts: 1960Electrostate vs. Petrostate: CATL is eyeing next level 12,000 Wh / kg battery
The world's biggest battery manufacturer (40% market share), has just announced, it is now setting it's sights on the next generation of battery technology, with a revolutionary "lithium-air" (also known as the "breathable battery" Not solid-state interesting enough, although they're still progressing in that space too.
These "lithium-air" batteries, to be clear, are said to have a theoretical energy density ceiling, of 12,000 Wh / kg. As CATL are not known for as a company for spouting hyperbole about they are quite capable feats of engineering, the announcement, has put every one else on notice, including gasoline and fossil fuel producers.
CATL sets sights on lithium-air technology with theoretical gasoline-level 12,000 Wh/kg energy density, June 3rd, 2026. https://carnewschina.com/2026/06/03/...nergy-density/
Currently, "lithium-air" laboratory prototypes have surpassed 1,200 Wh / kg, already accomplishing 10% of said energy density ceiling. There are several hurdles to overcome before commercial scale role outs, but as early as 2030, we could see batteries in commercial use.
2026 Year of the Battery.

Posts: 4832I hope you are having fun arguing with these guys. I concluded long ago that these two are on the government teet, and all that could explain their irrational behavior was their greed. Vietnam was Eisenhower's fault? Carter was a great president? Trump was responsible for the pandemic?

For those of us working now, when we travel, time is worth more than money, so if we see a woman we like, we might pay a little more to close the deal as we do not have time to negotiate. These guys scream, "You are ruining it for us."
This really got me because working guys are literally paying for those lazy ex-pats living abroad. It does not matter if it is a millennial up to his eyes in student debt. No, guys like Tooms and Spidy need you to pay for their hookers.
You always hear about taxes going for streets, schools ETC when the reality is 2 out of every 3 tax dollars goes from one person to another. I am literally paying people to go against my interests. Hell, if you believe in solar and wind, put up your own windmill or solar panels, but dumb Dems never see things in any other terms than government. Everything for them is about government so they can take credit for how they voted. The working people do not create jobs. Only presidents do. So if Tooms votes for a Democrat, he not you or I created a job even if we hired that person, and you destroyed jobs if you voted Republican. They really believe that. Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, who have done so much for the people of the world, are selfish and need to be more giving of their wealth to government. Neither created jobs for their fellow Americans; government did.
I was just abroad, and if you really look at things, you see prices are pretty much the same in things without legacy or legal costs. Televisions, food, restaurants, cars are all pretty comparable to the USA if you go for similar quality. Then you look at places where the government has intertwined itself with pensioners, and you see where there is such a difference: housing, property taxes, education, health care, insurance, child care, and you see amazing savings when abroad.
The one redeeming feature of a pensioner type would have been that at least they are putting their retirement $ back into the USA but not guys like Tooms and Spidy. All they are doing is sucking the USA dry, and yet they are so arrogant they want even more money than they are getting now. They want you to vote in their interests and not your own.
Our forefathers warned us about this. They said once people learn they can vote themselves money, the Republic is doomed. So yeah, guys like Tooms and Spidy have no issue with California paying more for gasoline than Texas to the tune of $2.50 a gallon. All they care about is demonizing Trump because they are worried Trump might cut their payouts. If they really cared about how much others pay for gasoline, they would get back to work and stop leaching off hard working Americans.

Posts: 2560The factcheck link is an excellent example of why Canada and I believe your faith in in the MSM is misplaced. And your requests for backup for our posts are unreasonable. The chart shows the economic growth rate during Trump's four years as -2. 2%. That number actually is 1- (2024 GDP /2025 GDP). In reality, the annual real growth rate in GDP was 1.9% or 2.1% per year depending on whether you use 1/1/2017 or 4/1/2017 as a starting point. I've calculated that from Bureau of Economic Statistics data. Chat GPT says it’s 2.1% for both starting dates. I note that a similar table that factcheck did after Biden's presidency omitted household income from the list, perhaps because the number sucked compared to Trump's.

The numbers on the chart are a mixed bag. During the Trump administration, real weekly earnings and household median income were up 8. 4% and 6% respectively, perhaps the largest increases since Clinton's second term. After many years of stagnation the workingman finally got a break! USA / Mexico border apprehensions were up 14.7%. Corporate profits and the S&P 500 were up, food stamp recipients down, CPI increases were held to a reasonable rate, poverty rate was down marginally, carbon dioxide emissions down, job openings up, home ownership up, and crude oil production up.
As to the number of Americans with health insurance, a pox on both the parties, and Trump, Biden and Obama. Costs are ridiculously high and outcomes poor. Obamacare doubled down on a failed system and Trump did nothing to fix it.
On the negative side, during the Trump administration, jobs were down, unemployment rate up, federal debt held by public up, home prices up, murder rate up, manufacturing jobs down and trade deficit up (negative by Trump's standards, not necessarily by mine).
But how much of this can you say Trump really affected substantially? Really IMO just the corporate profits, S&P 500, federal deficit, border apprehensions and number of Americans insured. The long overdue Trump / Ryan / McConnell corporate tax cut had a lot to do with the first two. As to the third, spending bills originate in the House and require the Senate's input, but Trump could have used the veto a lot more than he did.
Contrary to your belief, Trump could not have prevented the COVID pandemic, and Hillary Clinton might not have done significantly better or worse managing the economy through COVID. My guess is that she would have done worse. The USA Actually came out of Trump's last year pretty well. The GDP decline from 1/1/2020 to 12/30/2020 was 1%. This was better than most developed countries, although China and island nations like Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia did better. The unemployment rate when Trump left office was roughly comparable to other developed countries. It was lower than France and Canada, higher than the UK and Germany for example.
The minimum wage debate shouldn't be at the federal level. IMO minimum wages should be set primarily at the municipal and county level and secondarily at the state level. Having the same minimum wage in Washington and Mississippi would be plain asinine. I seriously doubt changes in the minimum wage had a significant effect on the nationwide average wage
As to the bloody war of choice, you have to assign the largest share of the blame to Bush. Obama and Trump were complicit in keeping it going, more so Obama. And kudos to Biden for getting us out, even though the final stage was a cluster fuck.

Posts: 7974You forgot a few Trump stats
You're much too easy on Trump, the Pedodent who consistently ranks dead last on historians' rank of USA presidents, and not because he handed Biden, a president who will always rank higher than most Repub presidents who served within the past 100 years, such seemingly glowing economic numbers that you cited sans context.

Trumps Final Numbers.
Statistical indicators of President Trump's four years in office.
Oct. 8, 2021
https://www.factcheck.org/2021/10/trumps-final-numbers/
You like that one about "Paychecks grew faster than inflation. Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 8. 4% after inflation"? I'm sure you do. Here is why that happened between 2017 and 2021 and it had absolutely zero to do with any legislation proposed by, fought for and passed by Donald Trump or any Repub in his administration:The economy lost 2.7 million jobs. The unemployment rate increased by 1.7 percentage points to 6.4%.
Paychecks grew faster than inflation. Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 8.4% after inflation.
After-tax corporate profits went up, and the stock market set new records. The S&P 500 index rose 67.8%.
The international trade deficit Trump promised to reduce went up. The U.S. trade deficit in goods and services in 2020 was the highest since 2008 and increased 36.3% from 2016.
The number of people lacking health insurance rose by 3 million.
The federal debt held by the public went up, from $14.4 trillion to $21.6 trillion.
Home prices rose 27.5%, and the homeownership rate increased 2.1
percentage points to 65.8%.
Illegal immigration increased. Apprehensions at the Southwest border rose 14.7% last year compared with 2016.
Coal production declined 26.5%, and coal-mining jobs dropped by 25%. Carbon emissions from energy consumption dropped 11.3%.
Handgun production rose 12.5% last year compared with 2016, setting a new record.
The murder rate last year rose to the highest level since 1997.
Trump filled one-third of the Supreme Court, nearly 30% of the appellate court seats and a quarter of District Court seats.
Minimum Wages Rising In 20 States And Several Cities
December 30, 2018
https://www.npr.org/2018/12/30/68105...several-cities
The wage increases in just those three Blue states alone were enough to raise the cited average for the entire country. The Economic Policy Institute reports that in six states, the wage hikes are the result of new levels set by state legislatures. In California, Massachusetts and New York, the increases are small steps in the broader effort of eventually raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
But wait, just to be sure why Biden had more on his plate to deal with other than fighting with OPEC to convince them to undo what Trump had done, check this out:
Trump to leave office with the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.

Oh, and remember there was still a Blood-Thirsty Repub Quagmire War of Choice raging in the Middle East that Trump also handed Biden to fix after happily presiding over it for the entirety of his four years in office. And he left that in as shitty condition as everything else Trump touched. See screenshot below:

EihTooms;3068848]The next time ignorant, ill-informed, blowhard MAGAs cry big dog tears over those high gas prices under Biden and blame Biden for it, remind them of something I doubt many of them knew even as it was happening; Trump gave us those higher gas prices then and he is giving us higher gas prices now.
My first Real News source to fully substantiate what must be a shocking new bit of information for almost anyone too ill-formed and hateful of America to have voted for Kamala Harris will be one that we have all read at least one pretend "independent" but actual MAGA Repub recommend as a credible research source vs his puzzling dismissal of, oh, The Guardian and The New York Times.
Please see the screenshot below.
High gas prices from Trump or Biden presidency doesn't bother republicans as most of them made enough financial gains on their oil stocks to pay for all their gas for 25 years. I can never spend my gains in my lifetime so high gas prices are actually good for 50% of the USA population. And they will be back down to normal soon so no worry there. Democrats are too woke to invest in oil. Just the democrats crying now but didn't cry under Biden high gas prices. You get what you deserve in life.

Posts: 2560You're much too hard on Biden and Jerome Powell Tooms. They never would have let inflation get out of hand like Argentina, Turkey and the dynamic duo of Jimmy Carter and William Miller. Well, Miller anyway. Carter did have the good sense to replace Fed Chair Miller with Paul Volker. No doubt a President Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and her Fed appointees could have followed in the footsteps of Argentina or Turkey though. And that's the direction your party is headed Tooms. Increasingly it's the lunatic left taking control.

Really. Not once have I heard Trump brag about having done that or a MAGA proudly remind us who did that. I only recall Trump and MAGAs telling us what a wonderful thing it was that the price of gas fell so low in 2020 during Trump's Pandemic and then how it was all Biden's fault that it got jacked up for the next couple of years.
You know, like the MAGA liars who insist Joe Biden recovering America from the global economic disaster of Trump's Pandemic with a mere few days of a 9.1% inflation rate also causing Argentina, Turkey and much of Europe to hit double and triple-digit rates of inflation for much longer and all without recovering many if any of the millions of jobs Trump's 2019 and 2020 decisions to lay the groundwork for, ushering in and exacerbate Trump's Pandemic destroyed in those countries.
Or will we find out how and why Joe Biden actually did that because, you know, "Ireland"?
Hey, it didn't make the cut to posting in my previous post but if you do a Google Search on the topic you will find that, sure enough, even The Guardian carried the reports of how Trump jacked up the price of oil and gas from 2020 to 2022. Just the same as The New York Times and others did, as was cited in that A. I. Overview.
