Posts: 2662Yes, it's normal to eat alone. Except maybe at high-end restaurants. But in the Sukhumvit area there are mostly budget and medium range restaurants, where you will see many mongers and also Thai people eating alone.

Posts: 7So when I was walking through Soi Cowboy I saw families with kids, it was bizarre, why are you dragging your 8 year old here? What is the purpose? Agree with people gawking, just seemed stupid to me. But I guess they want pictures to post on IG on their exotic vacation.

Posts: 611Basic Advice for the New Guy
At 7:00 pm The go go bars in the Nana Entertainment Plaza and on Soi Cowboy will be just opening and the lineup might be a bit reduced. But you'll be welcome. I'd say prime time is 9:00 pm To Midnight. FWIW Soi Cowboy these days is, in my view, a tourist trap. Full of civilian gawkers. Riddled with multiple ripoff bars run by "The Arab. " Basically coasting on a rep that dates back to the Vietnam War. If you simply must go, walk up and down a couple of times. Then buy a drink at Baccara or Crazy House (which is actually on Soi 23) and call it good.

As for attire, just about anything goes, including a baseball cap. It goes without saying that being freshly shaved and showered is a must. I carry breath mints and/or gum -- which I use frequently and give away to the girls. Finally, I'm a big fan of good cologne, and I'm surprised by how often the girls compliment me on it.

Posts: 3Appreciate the advice. I'll be looking for many day trips and things to do during the day. I'll mainly keep the mongering for the evenings there. Curious how you all do it for dinner though? Is it normal to eat alone? Any good places to handle that solitude?

Take a day trip. Lots of options. Just query Google. Go to MBK. Headquarters for a lot of counterfeit stuff from clothing to electronics. Also, a lot of food court options.

Posts: 1434If you like to navigate in a place employing old unattractive women and men disguised as ladies with their dick cut off their bodies, all the while pretending they are some young innocent girls, these Aurora massage places in Bkk are your best bet, especially the one in soi 33.

Posts: 44I confirm Peach (ex-Sena) is at Aurora33. Also, closer to the Phrom Phong station, they have a sister business of equal quality, Aurora Massage 24, on Sukhumvit 24.

Posts: 199First, Bangkok is a major tourist destination. There are easily 20 days of tourist stuff that can occupy your days. Second, if you want to stick to mongering, BJ bars and massage places are a good way to spend the afternoon.

Posts: 3What to do during the day / Socialize with other Mongers
Hi Mates, I'm heading off to BK soon (20 days), and while I'm sure I can fill my time at night (partying) and mornings / early afternoon (gym), I'm struggling on what to do in the times in between. Some time I can fill with sightseeing, but especially having dinner's alone is something I dread tbh. So question to you fellow mongers out there; What do you do when alone in Thailand? Any easy way to socialize with other Monger's before we split?

It has been a long time since I was in Bangkok too many years for me to count. But visiting two weeks ago some things hadn't changed, the bars in front of Nana were still filled with old guys on pensions complaining about things along with the older ladies in their 40's-50's keeping them company. I spent 3 nights at Maison Hotel and thank you whoever posted about it. Location couldn't have been better I booked through Agoda for 65/ night.
First the girls, it's the low season so talent was a bit sparse in the bars. I walked through Nana and Soi Cowboy and the girls were so aggressive that it was a turnoff. I used ThaiFriendly a bunch and was happy with the results, most quoted between 2-3 k ST which was fine, only one girl insisted on covered BJ. I also stopped by Thermae Cafe, it was an amazing line up of 5-6's. There were exactly 3 hotties the night I visited as I watched they turned down a few guys and said yes to two asian punters. Clearly they could afford to be picky, the last one quoted me 3 k and of course she was one of the worse performers showing yet again that looks often precede poor service. I was surprised at the large Indian / Pakistani population opposite Nana but should mean good Indian food. I talked to a few of the girls they mentioned Indians often come in groups and try to negotiate multiple guys for one girl each guy paying 500-1 k. Some girls are desperate enough to say yes. The highest I was quoted was 5 k by a very pale young stunner, she was willing to come down to 4 k for ST but no more. She looked like a k-pop idol so I am sure she gets takers. Just not really something I would pay extra for.
On my last day I visited Aya Massage, I was on my way to the airport so didn't walk around but I should have, there were a few massage places a block away that looked interesting with better talent than I saw at Aya. Aya itself was straight forward, walk in pick a package and ask for a line up, I showed up in the middle of the day and couldn't pull the smoking hot manager I would rate the girls 6-7's. Service was good and I went on my way to the airport a happy man.
Bangkok itself had changed a lot since I was there keep in mind when I used to visit there was no BTS. I was thinking of Bangkok as a retirement spot but the heat, traffic and pollution took it off the list. The condos are great, I walked around Thonglor and liked it, but couldn't get over the constant gridlock. I know some people rave about Chiang Mai so might check that out next year.
