I am not going to worry about Premium. IMHO and experience, Premium is a must-have for visitors, not for locals. Maybe to add, the limitation to monthy recurring Premium plans seems to apply to NEW users signing up for Premium on Android. This would square the circle between existing Android users on some legacy 1-year recurring Premium service plan and others trying to sign up for a new Premium plan being limited to a monthly recurring option. As Mr E mentions, if he allows his legacy 1-year subscription to lapse and tries to upgrade up again later, there is the risk of the 1-year selection option disappearing. I would keep such a good deal going.
