Prostitution is NOT legal in Thailand. So, the bill being proposed is to make it legal. One question is, would decriminalization of commercial sex work in what would then be legal prostitution establishments of bars, clubs, shops, brothels, etc in Thailand be a good or a bad thing for the market.
Right now because of the lack of status legal work for sex workers they are not recognized as having legal recourse against employers. Taxes are the price EVERYONE pays for a orderly society. I will take the opinion of a sex worker over a International Trick reading from his tome in his ivory tower every time. The protections put the sex worker on equal footing as every other employee in Thailand. It also allows them to put International Tricks in check if they get out of line (and they often do). That is why you see dumb as mother fucking farangs who think they rule the world getting a well deserved beat down every so often on Soi 6.I assume it would provide more protections and benefits for the sex workers in those venues as mentioned in the article. But then they would be getting taxed on their official and presumably tracked and monitored incomes.
No, I do not know this. Neither does the OP. He is speculating. When you go into a store you gather up your goods and head to the cash register, you pay in order to receive your goods. At the point of sale. If you get your hair cut, the barber performs the service then the payment is made. Prostitution although it is not legal in Thailand is a service business. If legalized payment is received after service. Receipts are not required. I don't give any information to a store if I make a cash payment. The OP is off base with his assumptions and speculations in this case. You know damn well one requirement by the tax collectors and regulators would be that the payments for the sex work be made upfront with a receipt. Already a bad idea for the customer imo.
If a sex worker has a legal way of running a sex business (which they do not have the option of in Thailand today) then if they choose to operate outside the law they deserve the penalty proscribed in the law if found guilty. And can we assume that the prostitutes who choose the life of a freelancer without the regulations, protections and quasi union benefits of the commercial sex workers in licensed venues but who very likely would offer better deals on the service than "employees" of a venue would be left alone to provide the service outside of any criminal charge attached to it as they do now or would that suddenly become a crime under the headings of Tax Evasion or running a business without a license?
I disagree. Prostitution should be legalized and regulated in Thailand.I'm leaning toward preferring it be left as it is now

I'm not sure. But I'm thinking his hero was Kevin Gaines. Same persona. Maybe fortunate not to have suffered the same fate. Of course, that would have been possible only IF Stubby actually was LE. LOL.

Posts: 7745Sam Sanuk needs to post about having sex with girls
Actually this is not true. Sam Sanuk is constantly responding to my posts where no one has quoted me. Take a look at the last post he made about me. So, he is making posts about me and posts about restaurants. Is he having sex with girls in Thailand? Not historical reports about his glory days once lived in Thailand. I cannot speak for others but I don't give a fuck about historical pussy events. The important information is current information being shared by posters like: Jizzy B.

The purpose of ISG is to share information on having sex with girls. If you are not having sex with girls then I understand why individuals focus on posting about restaurants in the Bangkok reports thread. But posting about hotels in the Pattaya Reports thread when there is a thread called Pattaya Hotels well I just don't understand that.
The Cmdr knows what to post where. Individuals calling me names because of something I posted they don't like in the RANTS thread (after they claimed they were going to ignore me) when all they have to do is actually put me on ignore and not to read the thread makes no sense. But some people who are not having sex with girls in Thailand just need something to do and they like to build their post count.

Posts: 7970Would legalizing it for venues and businesses be a good thing?
That article is referring to the possibility of legalizing sex work in venues such as brothels, bars, massage shops, etc, where the commercial selling of it as the business of those venues is clearly cited as illegal and a crime in the Thai Penal Code and / or the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act and therefore would have to be decriminalized in order to achieve that end. The indicators for that being the point are sprinkled throughout the article, while the social workers and service worker representatives quoted in it hope to create quasi union benefits and protections for the staff in those venues and businesses that would not necessarily apply to those who move into freelance prostitution, for which there is no criminal citation other than the Section 5 type of prostitution-related activity of soliciting openly and shamelessly in a manner that creates a public nuisance and so on.

Just reposting your linked article here:
Thailand sex work reform calls grow after murder
https://aseannow.com/thailand-news/t...paign=Thailand+sex+work+reform+calls+grow+after+murder.
One question is, would decriminalization of commercial sex work in what would then be legal prostitution establishments of bars, clubs, shops, brothels, etc in Thailand be a good or a bad thing for the market.Thailand's sex trade remains illegal, but its presence is highly visible from Soi Cowboy in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area to Pattaya's Walking Street, where nightlife businesses continue to draw visitors from around the world.
..........
Some workers moved from venues to freelance work advertised through social media platforms, she said. Swing has also observed that the workforce is becoming more diverse in gender, reflecting changing demand.
..........
He said some entertainment venues and massage parlours were known to covertly offer sexual services. That grey area, he argued, creates opportunities for officials to demand bribes or extort money from workers.
..........
Ms Surang said the illegal status of sex work leaves workers effectively outside the formal employment system and wider economy, without meaningful power to negotiate their livelihoods.
I assume it would provide more protections and benefits for the sex workers in those venues as mentioned in the article. But then they would be getting taxed on their official and presumably tracked and monitored incomes. You know damn well one requirement by the tax collectors and regulators would be that the payments for the sex work be made upfront with a receipt. Already a bad idea for the customer imo.

I'm leaning toward preferring it be left as it is now; the exchange of sex for money and money for sex between consenting adults not being a crime or punishable by any penalty. That doesn't make tax collectors happy I know. But unless there would also be social workers and representatives looking out for the benefits of the customers who pay the entire sex work fee upfront and get issued a receipt at the bars, clubs, brothels and shops, as I know there won't be, I suspect the value for money in the deal will sink like a rock in a pond, customers fleeing from those venues even faster than some do already and everybody loses. And if tax collectors are chasing down freelancers for the new crime of Tax Evasion vs nobody chasing them down today for no crime at all other than that easily avoidable Section 5 kind of stuff, that would be a major shame.

Posts: 7745Many individuals posting up in here cannot read!
Last 6 posts in the Pattaya Reports thread were about hotels in Pattaya. If only there was a thread about Hotels in Pattaya then we could actually read reports about having sex with girls in the Pattaya Reports thread.

Posts: 7745There are those who have forgot what the purpose of ISG is!
Last seven posts in the Bangkok Reports thread are about food. The old, ugly, fat farangs who don't fuck anymore are having a field day. I guess when you can no longer perform then you turn to food as you comfort. But the rest of us who are here to share information about having sex with girls, well we really don't give a fuck about your restaurant reviews in Bangkok.

Posts: 7970And the For Prostitution part in Section 7 is?
If neither you nor anyone else nor even your favorite past poster who eventually gave up trying to prove a point contrary to all available evidence still couldn't find the words, phrase or sentence in Section 7 of the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act nor anywhere else in that Act nor anywhere in the Thai Penal Code that made exchanging money for sex or sex for money between consenting adults a crime in Thailand punishable by any penalty whatsoever, nor even for engaging in a discrete discussion and agreement to do it, then I would say Boom! No crime has been committed for engaging it that activity.

I promise to do my best to read every detail in every post by you and others on this particular topic in the ISG Thailand Forum and if I ever see anything that does prove that the exchange of sex for money or money for sex between consenting adults is a crime in Thailand punishable by any penalty whatsoever I will most certainly reply to it and grandly congratulate you or whoever finds it for being the very first person in ISG history and in the history of Thailand in general to discover and reveal what must be the most secret of secret hidden statements and legally enforceable Sections in any and every related document ever published.
I swear to god I will. I am here for you in that regard.

Other then being posted by a International Trick lay person who does not have grasp on basic legal principles, this is the best post ever written to confirm the idea that Prostitution is NOT Legal in Thailand. Thank you for your support.

Interesting article on aseannow yesterday.
Thailand's sex trade remains illegal, but its presence is highly visible.
Surang Janyam, director of the Service Workers in Group Foundation, known as Swing, said the country has more than 200,000 sex workers. The majority are in Bangkok and Pattaya, she said.
Pattaya is estimated to be home to more than 50,000 sex workers. The scale of its night-time economy is believed to generate between 100 billion and 200 billion baht each year.
Royal Thai Police data show that 19,648 people were arrested for offences under the prostitution law in 2023, down from 38, 139 arrests in 2022.
Under the 2022 Act on the Imposition of Regulatory Fines, offences under Section 5 of the prostitution law are punishable only by fines and are no longer treated as criminal offences. Authority to impose the fines was transferred from police to officials under the Social Development and Human Security Ministry.

Funny how times have changed. When I gave gold to a very important person to me and reported about it. Here is just one of the responses I received.

So is your apartment building, my apartment building, likely almost every apartment building and house in Thailand over the past several decades and every hotel building in Thailand a "Prostitution Establishment" that is sure to be closed down and virtually everyone in them as well as the owners of them arrested, charged, tried, convicted, sentenced fined / imprisoned for this "not legal" act of prostitution any minute now?

That's why the formerly named Dr. BJ's Salon in Bangkok changed its name to Wood Bar.
But, remember, the closure and arrests can not be motivated merely by the impression of some casual observer, zealous "prostitution is not legal in Thailand" proponent on ISG or anyone who reads his posts and gets riled up by his repeated message who calls the cops on them and demands they be closed down for it. The police have to arrive on the scene and observe them for a while themselves and see if it really is such an establishment.
As it happens, almost every time the police show up in Nana Plaza, Pattaya's Walking Street and the various bars and shops around Thailand, and even when the police shacks, strolls and stations are located right there in the midst of them, all they ever see and hear going on in those places is people drinking, enjoying the sight of exotic dancing, making new friends, getting a therapeutic massage and stuff like that. Rarely do they ever see or hear "evidence" that those businesses are being used for prostitution or that any sex in exchange for money is happening in them.
But if there is a sign outside a building or business you encounter in Thailand saying anything like, "Get your red hot fucks and blowjobs right here for 1,000 baht and up!" or the ladies outside are shouting a message like that at passersby, let us all know here at least a few weeks before you report them to the police please.
