This is far from a guarantee and if it does happen, it could take a decade. The world has lost faith in the dollar because it's being used as a weapon against the enemies of the USA. Every time they use it as such, it weakens the dollar. It may be too late to reverse this trend.

I'm not saying we'll get back to 4000 COP, but it was 3500 just a few months back. I also think Colombia's new president will hurt the economy. He's a huge fan of our president and will implement a lot of the same BS that has been hurting the US economy. Look at Argentina, they elected a similar president and while their economy had a small boost after he took office, it's been trending downwards since.

You generally get more bang for your buck so to speak in Brazil and there is something to be said for being able to walk two blocks without encountering a leg breaking sidewalk hole. The dollar will bounce back. It's not just a Colombian thing. The USD lost over 10% of its value on the global markets in 2025 alone. The world has lost confidence in the USD because of the current admin and this compounds with local effects like inflation. I was in Ireland in January and the EUR exchange rate was the worst I've ever personally used. Not that long ago, the USD was close to parity with the EUR.
