Thanks for the heads up, and the reminder. It's a good reminder that one must keep theirs wits about them when you're at a club. We are walking ATMs with poor blood flow to the larger head.

Fortunately I gave up drinking a while back, which makes part of that process easier. I never had issues at Crazy House (years ago), but I watch the tab, or just pay as I go.

Mandarin has reputation for drink hustling rookies. They pull the double lady drink and I've been told that they're into short changing. They mostly take advantage of Asians. This is based on my random conversations with various people, as I haven't climbed those stairs probably since 2018.

IMHO, Mandarin is not much different from other Nana Plaza go go bars. It is small and, perhaps, a bit seedier than the average place, but nothing that alarms me. In 2023/2024 I did a number of bar fines from Mandarin and I don't remember anything that would discourage me from doing it again, though I've found greener pastures elsewhere since then. The average girl is not as beautiful as those at, say, Butterflies, Geisha, and Billboard, but there is likely someone there for most tastes. I cannot confirm the rumor that there is a 2 tier bar fine system, one price for CFS and another price for BBFS. My last bar fine at Mandarin was in about 2024. One big difference between Mandarin and the other go go bars is that the entire stage is one giant knee deep bath tub where you might have 12 naked girls dancing for you. Expect stadium style seating with a small table in front of your bleacher. The worst part about Mandarin is the treacherous stairway.

I don't remember the bar in Soi Cowboy, but I remember looking up and some dancer was going reverse cowgirl on some dude in the bleachers. Appropriate, I guess, for Soi Cowboy.

I don't know why Nyezhov said what he said about Mandarin, but I would be interested if he wants to elaborate. To me, Mandarin was always an interesting bar worth checking out. It was never at the top of my list of favorite Nana bars, but I still liked the place and pulled some very attractive girls out of there. Basically BMoreDog69, we are in a similar place. I have not been to the LOS since 2019, but I have my air transportation and hotel reservations booked and I am excited about returning even though many of my punter friends have told me they think scene has gone markedly downhill. Maybe it has, but this is why I am coming. To find out for myself.

I am going to stay within walking distance of Nana for my 1st 10 days back in town and I plan to hit it up Nana every night unless it disappoints. Basically, I have no game plan other than to start off with my favorite bars from bygone days and see what happens. For example, if I like the girls in Rainbow 4 or 5 or whatever they call it now, I will hang out (barfine) there. If I like the girls in Billboard I will hang out there. If I don't see anything worthwhile in a Go Go, I won't spend any time there.

Eventually, I will get around to every decent Go Go in Nana and meet / barfine a whole lot of girls. It should be fun even if my friends are right about the current scene. So yeah, I will be checking out Mandarin for sure. And for sure, I will eventually make it over to Crazy House which used to be my favorite Go Go in BKK from when it opened to around 2017, and even Patpong where Kings Castle 1 & 2 use to reign supreme. In fact, I have a reservation at the Intercontinental for 4 nights later on in my visit to facilitate hitting Patpong, Mixx, and Spasso. I am not overly optimistic about these places, but I have to give them a look / see anyway. And I am sure I will hit up La Belle and Maria at least once each too. So, there is a lot to see and do. And like any trip I ever had, everything goes out the window as soon as your feet hit the pavement.

And I am also heading down to Pattaya where I will pretty much do a similar recon in a very different punting destination.

So, who knows? I may love Thailand all over again, or I may have mixed feelings, or I may reach the conclusion that it ain't worth the long flight anymore. This is what excites me about this upcoming trip and why I am returning. This is what traveling is all about.

After being away for more than a few years and salacious lurking here, I finally have the opportunity to go back. Questions first, and I'll add some details later that folks can skip or read at their choosing.

I am curious about Nyezhov's comment about Mandarin not being for rookies. Less a question and more of a "WTF, I coulda had a V8" moment. For my previous gogobar takeouts, I paid the BF and the ST fee (and always had good experiences, which was not guaranteed) at the bar. Someone commented about pushing back to not pay the ST / LT fee to the bar / mama, and I was like, "Well, fuck yeah, why didn't I ever think of that before? Point being that no matter how much many years I have been doing this, and numerous trips to BKK, Khon Kaen, etc. There are still things to learn here if we just pay attention.

Onto the narrative and upcoming plans:

I've been to BKK and elsewhere in Thailand a number of times and have done oilies, soapies, shows, FLs, and takeout at bars like Hillary's and gogos at Soi Cowboy and Nana. The one that got away was this crazy little thing in Khan Kaen. There was a kind of dance club in the basement of the (I think) Pullman, which was nextdoor to a decent fishbowl. I was just having a drink and wound up in a private room with some gal that wasn't working and she was a wild thing and she was literally dripping wet.

Anyway, I am looking to find a young-ish lady (for me, so late 20's early 30's) to be my after-dinner companion for the duration of my stay. Assuming I can find someone that has the right personality, enthusiasm (for an hour or two), BBFSCIP / BBBJCIM, etc. I will likely stay at the JW Marriott near Nana. I love Crazy House and will probably have to check it out, if for no other reason than fond memories. I'll pay for a TF membership and check that out, but I like to meet and evaluate in person, and I don't have to time to do "interviews". I will likely focus on Mandarin if it looks good as it will allow me to save time, being near the JW. That way I can get food, workouts, AND playtime all in with the rest of my schedule. I am a fan of keeping the mamasan happy and using her to help refine the search process.

Most of this is to lead me to say I greatly appreciate the regulars here keeping it real and continually offering tips, such as EverythingThai's Overview of Bangkok Options (http://www.internationalsexguide.nl/...188&viewfull=1#post2963188), EihTooms, SubCmdr, etc. I lurk here often to keep up, and haven't had much to contribute, but I will do so after my adventure.

My answer to both your questions are Nana is much better than Cowboy these days and to echo Horsetrader's comments almost any bar serving alcohol it's possible to pick up freelancers. Especially on Soi 4 and Soi 11. There are several bars on both sides of Nana Plaza that have freelancers. On Soi 11 besides Sugar Club there is Climax and levels clubs. Also Hillary bars (2) and Oscar's bar inside the restaurant. Several others that I don't remember the names as well as street walkers. As an expat living in Bangkok I avoid Soi 11 because it's tourist central. On Cowboy both bars Penny Black and Country Road have freelancers but only in small numbers.

I always avoided Soi 11 except for levels too as well as Cowboy, since they are more for show than getting laid.

But now I'm a tourist again LOL.

Anybody been to Mixx? Used to be Russian girls.

The new Mira Club next to Sugar on Soi 11 is getting long queues and the most attention right now. The queues are about 50% men and 50% women who appear to my eyes to be up for a P4P exchange. I would also credit the attention to this new Club to a notable uptick in numbers and attractiveness of the Freelancer stroll up and down Soi 11; more patrons showing up to check out the new club, more FLs showing up on the soi to pitch a sale. Discretely so far, of course.

Depends on what you want. Cowboy for sitting outside and people watching. Nana for greater selection of go go girls and taking a bar fine to your hotel. Hopefully a Cowboy fan will chime in and offer his views, I probably spend 10 evenings at Nana for every 1 evening I spend at Cowboy.

My last Cowboy bar fine might have been about 2023. Since then I've taken countless Nana bar fines.

The only reason I ever visit Cowboy is for Crazy House, which technically is just off Cawboy. Even Barraca which used to my old favorite isn't what is used to be. Nana clubs and people watching is infinitely better IMHO.

For a off the chain nightclub experience in Bangkok, Thailand. Mira is the spot. Walked away with phone numbers from two girls and turned down an immediate fuck experience from a third because I was LIT!

It depends on what you consider to be a "normal (ish) bar. " Many bars (maybe most) in the lower Sukhumvit area have freelancers. Even some bars with live music have freelancers (e.g., Hillary 1 on Sukhumvit Soi 4). I'd suggest you walk around and see what strikes your fancy. In my experience, more of the hotties will be go go girls in Nana Plaza (I haven't spent much time recently in Cowboy), but the go go bars are certainly not "normalish" by Ohio standards.
