I wouldn't even say SJO is SJO and Colombia is Colombia, because he only compared one hotel/hooker pick-up spot in each city after midnight. It is kind of ridiculous to come to any generalization of an entire city using only one observation. There are tons of other spots throughout the city and if you do not like the vibe in one you can simply move on to the next. And each place has a certain time when it will be on hit. You can't expect each place to be live when you are ready.

I know if I go to Conejita's at 2am Tuesday night that it will be dead, so I will go to Barra Ejecutiva where it will be live. If I go back to Conejita's at 7pm on a Friday night I know I will be in for the time of my life. I would not say this city/country sucks or another city/country is better because I went to one venue at a particular time which may have been a down time for that place.

And then the girl when he first got to the Mansion charged him 200k for 1 hour. I thought people said there was a going rate there of 150k? He did mention that he had limited Spanish skills and I think many guys will pay a premium this way. Hence them paying $100 at the Del Rey when they could go to the San Jose casas and get girls for $20 or less. I would be anxious to see which spot he thought was better after learning some Spanish. I agree with you. The quality of the girls that hang out at the Veracruz church is generally bad. In fact, I have never picked a girl there. The girls I have seen there were so bad (fat, ugly, old unkempt, tranny looking) that I would not take not even for free or even me getting paid to do them, and I am not that picky LOL. I only noted because I read from a previous posters that had success in finding girls there. At my last trip to MDE I went there looking for some chicas based on some earlier report about some dudes pulling chicas into short time hotels nearby. When I went there, flesh was definitely for sale, but I have to admit the quality was a bit below my standards. Sex using the on-site La Isla motel was 300000 pesos. I paid cash at the registrar for the girl and room. No money went directly to the girl. The girl asked for a tip but I thought two drinks were enough of a tip. She was disappointed but I will only tip for BBBJ or anal I guess. I had 20 50000 peso bills in my pocket and came home with 11 plus change in my pocket. The night might have been closer to 420000 pesos. So I think your 350000 takeout is nearly equivalent to my 300000 in-house and partying at the club.

Day 1.

Wingman and I landed close to midnight. That said our first priority was getting some pesos then heading to the hotel.

I changed the max (400 k pesos around 124 UDS at the time) I could at the ATM. Went outside to hail a cab to laurels.

The cost of the trip was around 70 k. We had two reserved rooms at tuapartmento Santo Tomas (you can find them on booking.com) location. The thing is we get there after much searching from the cabby and they only have one room. The desk girl calls the guy on the phone and says my wingman didn't reply to the confirmation email the day before so he let his room go. Meh. He decides to fix us up in another spot he has a few blocks away. So off the 3 of us go in the middle of the night Wing and I with our huge 2 week luggage; to the new place. The closest and best place to go on on this side of town was Energy (Carrera 74 # 49-101, near Calle 50 (Colombia) right next to the Stadium) One of the reasons I like this place is because the mamasan seems used to speaking with extrajeros. I arrived at 10:30 PM which is way too early. There were very few girls on the floor although the strip show had started. I was giving 2000 peso tips to the dancers and they seemed happy. The club has a great layout and I enjoyed watching the girls on the stage. They play decent music for the most part.

Rooms and the girl are 300000 pesos. I took one of the dancers Angela back there. She was not the best looking and had a see-section scar. She was a good performer but it is a very much wham bam thank you mam type of experience. BJ was covered and she would not accept a tip to do bareback. She was willing to kiss. I decided to pay another visit to MDE, thanks to the 50% devaluation ($1800 in 2005), direct flight by Delta. It still took me 12 hours to leave from PHL via ATL to MDE. MDE is still hard to get to. A similar strip to SJO would be a direct flight from EWR, leave at 7 am and arrive at noon. I decided to contribute by own two cents to the board given that I received a lot of information from this board. I cashed in some Delta FF miles, made a reservation at the Mansion and was on my way. Make sure you give your credit card information directly to a person on the phone. I was told to email my credit information and a few days later was alerted by my CC company that there were unauthorized charges on the card. I do not think that the problem is with the Mansion staff. Their email may have been hacked. I had to change my CC. I arrived 10:40 pm on Delta; was picked up by a Mansion driver for $80,000 pesos. Thirty minutes later, I was at the Mansion. There were only three girls present. One was doable and she charged me 200,000 pesos for an hour. I tried to arrange to get an English speaking driver to no avail. So, my first night was a dud. A similar arrival at Del Rey at 12:00 midnight, and the party would just be starting..

That's how it it and I've said it a ton of times DR and CR have the full on rock out party vibe vs Colombia and a smaller vibe. Like house party style.

Interesting your customs experience. When I first started coming and going from Mede it was gnarl like that. Odd why you got chosen. Did you indulge in any party favors and then touch something in your bag there by contaminating it? I've been picked at "random" and it's just quick pat down and look into the carry on and back pack and moving along.

I've only been in MDE once for Holy week (I generally try to plan to avoid it). Based on that small sample size it really wasn't that bad. There were plenty of women available through Wednesday. Only Thursday and Good Friday were really dead, and even those days if you planned ahead with someone you'd been with previously, you could put something together.

I would go ahead with your trip, but just make sure to pre-arrange something for Thursday and Friday. Don't rely on chicas being readily available, because they likely won't be. It will take a bit more work and planning, but it's doable.

I would not worry so much about your chances of having a good time in Medellin because of the Holly week. I think there is plenty of fun to have regardless. Keep in mind that the Holly week is the biggest event for those that are serious Christians, Catholics, etc, but not for the putas or their establisments. Do you thing the P4 P girls and places are that serious when it comes to religion? It may be bad for their business on some days of the holly week like holly Thursday 3/24 or Friday 3/25 because business will be slow, somewhat dead, and some will possibly close due to those days being National Colombian Holidays and also the climax of the Holly week. But you never know, you just have to look around, and you may find girls and places opened. Also, get girls from facebook, mileroticos, Colombian cupid, stay at the mansion or ColombianJake if you can, etc, that way you will have moreoptions for the possible slow days. In that church the putas are hanging out at the entrance day and night and some short time motels nearby. This is a typical marriage between God and the Devil as both co-exist in this Church. The quality of the girls is bad during the day, but as the day progresses it gets better. Just as a way to explore el Centro check it out on Holly Thursday or Friday because that church should be packed with people on those days. But I don't recommend you get any of those girls at the entrance and don't stay in that area at dark time because it gets dangerous at night. It is a commercial area and pretty safe during light hours. Just go as a cultural exploration and report back what you see. I am sure those putas will be plenty there and hunting on the Holly week. The next day, there were three chicas at the pool. Many of the guys spend hours on their phones and facebook trying to make an appointment. This is new to me. I prefer to meet the chica in person and if I like her, get her number or facebook account. I made some good friends and visited Energy and New Life. Overall, I think that for a short 3 - 4 day trip with limited Spanish speaking skills, SJO still offers the best value. It is hard to beat the Del Rey with its 24 hour operation, Key Largo night life, and the general party atmosphere. I will give MDE another try. Maybe, there is something that I missed. Leaving MDE airport was a challenge. I was checked in smoothly on business class, went through the X-ray machine, along with my carry on bag through the scanner. A police officer decided to do a second check of my bag. He removed everything from my carry on bag, use a screwdriver to puncture holes in my bag, along with my camera bag. My computer was taken out of the case, and my new Rockport shoe soles removed. This was a surreal experience and uncalled for. I was professionally dressed with a coat and tie. He even took my ticket for revalidation. Eventually, he handed everything back to me. This, for me, is a warning to be careful with MDE. I have never had a similar experience with SJO after ten visits. I must admit that the chicas in MDE are incredibly beautiful. I will probably rotate between MDE and SJO for the foreseeable future. Just my two cents.
