I will post a bit more later but I have another quick report, I am an avid cigar smoker -and for the past 3 days I have been frequenting the Habanos Point Cigar shop on Calle 10 a. The attendant is great, the poor guy is a mechanical engineer from Venezuela, speaks fluent english but the owner is an asshole. I met him (owner) yesterday, brought him a drink but the dude barely gave me the time of day. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what went wrong with that gusto girl. It could be that I'm now more aware of the system in Medellin, which scared her, she knew that I now know that I'm significantly overpaying her. I'm no expert it was my first trip to MDE but the shit is easy. Takes a little work but easy. Find a girl in MDE where you can see her friends. Best if you can find a guy on her page where you can see his friends. For sure he has lots of prepagos and start sending friend request. I have made the same mistakes. Then I learned not to think they think the way we do. They have a different educational background, social class, not to mention different culture. How can they think like you and me?

This is my guess, for example, I think you don't lie like she does. That is why you did the half payment but you did not achieve the result you were expecting. That is one way they can take advantage of gringos. Now I just don't think about it. I simply say no and walk away and move on to the next like you eventually did.

Another thing that I observe from your experience is overpaying doesn't gain you long term benefit.
