On my way in a few weeks for my first Tokyo visit ever. Been diligently reading the board over the past month or so. Recently came across this Vice Article:

As someone who is always skeptical / critical of anything read on the internet, especially sites like Vice. Is there any truth to this article?

My primay concern is regarding pricing at the Soaplands in Yoshiwara. From reading the article if it isn't hyped. Getting laid at a Soapland could run you $700-1000 if my math is correct. Can anyone comment on this especially pricing at specific Soaplands in Yoshiwara.

Yoshiwara is too expensive even by Japan standards. It is the Ginza of soaplands. I've poked my head in them with a friend out of curiosity since it is a historical site, but would not recommend.

For comparison, I will post the price list for Barubola soapland (see 2 images for details). It is foreigner friendly with a foreigner tax. For foreign customers it is 46,000 ($294) for 50 minutes and 61,000 ($390) for 90 minutes. For Japanese customers it is 26,000 ($166) for 50 minutes 41,000 ($262) for 90 minutes. Hi, it is best not to follow the Nigerian touts, specifically those in Kabukicho at Shinjuku. They have a long history for drugging lone customers in bars and then robbing them. The US Embassy repeatedly warns about them. They are opportunistic and know how to hide their crimes, they lead people to second-rate titty bars, most that Japanese would not visit. Lucky for you if you are in a group. If you are alone and the bar is empty that is the most dangerous scenario. I have seen with my own two eyes them committing brazen crimes. For example several of them grabbed a ladies' purse and ran off - this was almost within view of a police station. Normally I walk past them but when nobody else was around one of them grabbed my arm so he could sell. A few will try to sell you drugs even though you are ignoring them and walking past them. They've been doing this a very long time.

There are English speaking information shops in Kabukicho you can walk in. After 20 years I only use information shops because they are legit and directories of shops in the area. Keep in mind English speaking Asian touts are sometimes Chinese. I go to this place frequently when in Japan. Its easy to access and pretty efficient.

The 3 P service does not include lesbian action I am pretty sure, but I have not ordered 3 P enough to confirm.
