You need to get your head straight. Your US Constitutional rights don't mean diddly in Colombia, or any other nation on earth. They stop at water's edge. One of the problems of American tourists is they can't seem to pull their heads out of their asses long enough to figure out what's going on around them. There are places where you shouldn't go. DEAL WITH IT. Everywhere I go POS gringos like you embarrass us.

Where did I mention my rights, US Constitutional or otherwise? They have some excellent weed in Medellin. Perhaps you should smoke some and chill yourself out, because you're getting your blood pressure up at the wrong guy.

How in the fuck am I embarrassing you when I sit down in Botero plaza, drink my water and watch the scenery? How am I making you look bad when I spend an hour in my favorite bar in El Centro? How is my head up my ass when I'm sitting in my favorite El Centro restaurant, eating and chatting with the owner, who's a friend of mine? If I hop on the metro and spend a few hours checking out the shops around Parque Bello, or the malls in Envigado or Sabaneta, why do I first need to ask your permission?

Do I also need to check to see if it's okay with you to go grab lunch in Robledo or La Floresta? If I decide to go shopping for a couple of shirts in La Mayorista, is there a website I should check to see if it's on the approved list for gringo tourists? What about if I ever again need to go to the main office of 4-72 in Medellin? I'm almost certain it's one of those places where I'm not supposed to go. Trust me, the last time I had to waste 3 hours there it wasn't a place where I wanted to be.

Maybe there's a special US Embassy hotline number, where I can call and find out if you're going to approve my visit to whatever part of the city I want to visit. Should I go ahead and submit my plans to you before my next visit? How long does your official approval process take? I'd hate to have to get up in the middle of dinner because I just got the email that you're not going to allow me to eat there.

There are places where tourists shouldn't go. Where those places are depend a great deal on the individual tourist. I know guys who should never venture outside of the Mansion without a babysitter. I also know guys who can sit down at a cafe in Paris (the area near Bello, not the city in France) and end up with a bunch of new friends.

Nothing personal, but I know my way around El Centro. I know where there's no need for me to go. I know when it's time to pack up and leave. I don't need someone, who's probably spent less time in Medellin than me, telling me which places are acceptable.

If you feel that somehow my behavior in Medellin has caused you embarrassment, please explain exactly what I did, when and where I did it. No?

I've written dozens of posts telling people how to be safer in Medellin. I've written dozens more answering questions about different areas of Medellin. I've freely given both my advice and my time to help others enjoy their stay without being an embarrassment. I've given tours to several ISG members, taken them to casas, strip clubs, even Parque Arvi. If all that makes me a POS, then so be it.

Still carrying my Whisker-Free Chip, going on 39 years. Puerto Vallarta is booked for April, and looking forward to working on a USA-MEX-COL trio. The apartment I got is waaaay below market (2br / 2ba / fiber optic / rooftop terrace with pool bbq loungers ocean view) at about $1200 for the month. So, I'm splurging for a nice hotel the first night, and will still be under the monthly rate for my current place in MDE. The nightclubs look to be bumping on the weekends, even Sunday. Probably going to hit Cancun and maybe 1-2 other spots before back to Medellin in late-May. Maybe when I get back, I'll have enough of a tan to blend in at Botero and snag a whisker!

Your the envy of many, when I was 39, I was married with two young kids, and your jetsetting around at that age. And I can tell you, that you easily have a minimum of 25 more years to do so if you stay in shape. I am more than 25 years older than you, and thank God I don't have to work for a living anymore.

So right now I'm busing around Colombia and yesterday I left Medellin with my Tomboy and am currently in Pereria. Checked into the Movich Hotel and the place is literally deserted. They have a great pool and Spa with both a wet (Turco) and dry Sauna. After a great session with my Tomboy over 35 years younger than me (and your 39 years old) we headed to the pool and had it to ourselves. While we were swimming, the Spa heated up the Saunas for us and the we had them to ourselves, first the dry Sauna, and then the Turco. It was great, I laid down in the Turco and I got blown! I'm totally invigorated besides being leche depleted.

Tomorrow were taking a Taxi to Hotel Termales Santa Rosa de Cabal for two nights, then on to Coroca Valley outside of Salento, and finally to Hotel Termales Tierra Viva outside of Manizales. Termales are hotsprings and I have an upgraded River side room in Santa Rosa. Just trying to keep up with you Slapshot! LOL.

Right now is an excellent time to travel in Colombia, for guys who are here for a while, and have a companion you click with, travelling is great, however there are still a few hotspots like in Santa Marta with restrictions.

If you'll notice, the guy has a six pack- he's not fat, but inflated with life and passion to the point of bursting. Fernando Botero is the patron saint of Medellin.

Essential to understanding inflated paisas? Where's the silicone? Except for the Death of Pablo Escobar painting, I find Botero's work distasteful and humorless. The Antioquia Museum ought to have one of his self-portraits, but even those are bland and not worth a second glance.

Parque Botero has the highest concentration of cops I have seen anywhere in Colombia. And they are in groups. Ordinary Colombians love to go there to get pictures by the fat statues. I have a problem with that. I believe I belong wherever I want to be. Why pay to go to a foreign country and stay within a tiny part of one city? Especially when that area isn't much different from other upper class area of any other city? I can go to El Paso or Miami if I just want to listen to people speak Spanish.

I just got off a Zoom Conference with some of my buddies in Centro. They said that ALL ISG members must keep their asses out of Centro or they will be coming for you. And there won't be any more of that blending in shit if they have anything to do with it. They also said that I am the only one allowed to carry and take pictures with a Galaxy Note any time of the day or night. This type of behavior will not be tolerated from any other gringos. You have been warned.

So if I take my ISF t-shirt off, will I be okay? Just how are you going to tell the difference between your average gringo and the ISF members- just curious? You're the kind of guy civilians imagine on this site.

Should you choose to become a Centro rat, this is the fate that awaits you. The photo shows real live providers at Ground Zero, unobscured faces and all. I did not bother to obscure their faces because they work the Botero / Veracruz stroll on a daily basis. No shame in their game.
