I am pretty sure this is not correct based on the "all" context and given that you travel all over the world. If you have something like round trip ticket, they won't ask because they can see it on their terminal. Sometimes they will forget to ask but if it is required, they may face a fine.

This is just wild speculation on my part. It comes from one of the steps for getting a visa other than the tourist visa. One of the steps requires you to provide 6 months of bank statements (only the page showing your balance). Depending on the type of visa, there's an average balance which must be met or exceeded to qualify. The bank statements are for whoever is accepting financial liability for the extent of your stay. Along with the bank statements a letter is required (from the same person as the bank statements) declaring acceptance for financial liability. Basically, someone is saying they will pay to fly your ass home at the expiration of the visa.

Does the airline have implied liability if they sell you a one-way ticket? Would they be required to eat the ticket cost at the end of your tourist visa if you don't have the money for another flight?

Maybe an airline insider, or a lawyer can weigh in on the subject.

I'm asking because I know from experience that asking this before in some countries is taboo and the answer always will be no. But without asking it could be possible after negotiating in the room, but this includes also the possibility of not getting it.

While I think that you have a better chancve of negotiating BBBJ than BBFS, both are harder to find in LLeras than say downtown. Go to Centro Comercial Oviedo. There are several there. Most have their rates posted. Which one has the best rate varies.

Overall, I fucking love it here, as opposed to the US, most women here are in-shape, feminine, and attractive. Yamaha update that no one asked for. Turns out there is a three month backlog for orders from the factory on all new Yamahas, internationally. We checked Bogota, Cali, same story. All the motos you see in the shop are already sold and waiting for delivery. Here's where it got weird. The dealer wanted a 100% down payment to order the bike. Granted it is a seller's market, but that is typical for how businesses take advantage of the average every day Colombian here who does not know the difference. I told him I would put a down payment of whatever his normal profit margin was on one moto. I threw out the figure 2 million COP at him on a 12 million COP moto. I explained to him that if I don't follow up with full payment at time of delivery, which they say could be three months or longer, obviously they keep the deposit and sell the bike to someone else for double their usual profit. The guy looked at me like he was stunned by my logic, jajaja. He went to go ask his manager and I left because he took too long.

There is a moto zone in El Centro. About 2 blocks where nearly every business either sells or repairs scooters and motorcycles. It's located a few blocks west of the Prado metro station. At least I believe that's where you'll find it.

I don't know if there are any Yamaha dealers there or not, but it might be worth checking out.

If you want to talk to an expert, who might be able to point you in the right direction, go to Medellin Sport Rentals and ask for Santi. It's located in the Manila neighborhood. Carrera 43 F #14-45. He can give you an opinion about every make and probably help.
