Hotels are going to be lease bothered about age of the person so don't worry about it. But usually when I meet someone younger, I ask them to book a room and pay for the room while I book another room in my name. This is just for my safety and privacy. I agree with you in toto, this is the right strategy and works for me too. Anyone who hints at platonic or virtual should be eliminated. Most often I don't pay for casual dates unless I am really keen to meet the girl and the amount is reasonable and not the kind of amount one would pay for private meets. For eg anyone asking for 10 k is out, and something up to 5 k is reasonable as long as you have verified the girl and not in advance. There are few girls who won't say platonic but will keep leading you on with small small request for money or gift and keep meeting you for coffe meal drinks and squeeze a considerable amount from you without getting into a private meet. So be careful.

Haven't been on SA in almost two years now but back in 2018-2021 phase I came across a lot of girls there who suggested platonic meet first but didn't demand any compensation for it.
