Forgive me if I express my contrary idea but I am agree with you partially. Nothing to say about the girls, there are dozens in the streets during the day, or on the beach. Who says that Mtwapa is over has confused ideas, maybe it's over for them.
However your post is strange. Legend tried to reopen it two years ago, and they failed again. The Legend is closed again for at least 1 year and a half: why do you give wrong information indicating it as a place to go? It no longer exists! The Naiz is also working but always deserted. Maybe you have smoked or chewed too much.

"Pick up a girl on Posta Road".
Hi, may I ask you if, in general, these girls you pick.
Up are like young and attractive? How is the overall quality?
Haven't been in Kenya since 2004 (Malindi).
Just asking. Thanks bye.

Let's be honest: Most "normal" white men wouldn't even consider retiring in Africa. It's just not on the map. It took me a long journey to end up there. After SEA and the Philippines, I had to be honest about my preferences. I don't expect others following in my footsteps. Africa won't be a popular retirement or monger destination for Americans, for sure. Anyone who is interested in black girls would rather go to nearby DRP, Panama, Columbia, or Brazil where millions of friendly black and mixed girls are open to date white men. I'm just not in the mood to learn Spanish or Portuguese.
The Philippines also has its fair share of misfit expat white men. Many of them are there because no one wants them back at home due to difficult personalities or broken homes. Or because they have demons. Drug or alcohol abuse. They are trying to run away from their demons. I knew some of them personally, most of them are dead already. The average life expectancy of a Kano (muzungu) in the Philippines from the time they retire there is about 5-6 years. They just end up indulging themselves to the death. Mtwapa seems to be the place for these types also.

Which is not a bad thing after all. We dont want inflated pussy prices like in SEA. Kenya beats the Philippines when it comes to quality girls. Hands down, absolutely no completion. I looked Neddy link and there are quite cheap apartments in Nyali, I am suprised. In good areas. Unfurnished. Unfurnished is not good for guys who come for half years, need to buy furniture every time and then sell it very cheap when leaving. But AttilaTheHun is for staying long time so no problem.
Nyali is more developed and nice place and beach is near. But there you are in closed compound, visiting shopping center, using motobikes and tuktuk or your own car. Boring. I remember AttilaTheHun asked about place where there is community? Mtwapa is more like that, it is someway like a village, after a while you know many people. Also more action and life, but with inconveniences and drama.
Diani is good option if you want peaceful life, it is more quiet meaning also more boring.
Bamburi, in my opinion not a good place.
So, AttilaTheHun, you look around of course, rent room in cheap or expensive hotel and look around. With airbnb apartment you can stay short time in furnished apartment in Mtwapa, surely in Nyali there is same?
By the way not whole Nyali is nice, there are also bad and poor areas.

I have mostly stayed in Nyali behind City Mall as it is convenient for the mall and Naivas. Also I stayed some time near Voyager hotel.
Never stayed in Mtwapa it is too far from City mall for me as I like Cafeserie too much.
I have stayed in Bamburi twice for a few months and never had a problem. Cheaper than Nyali. Some people do say Bamburi is not so good but it is the same as Mtwapa surely?

And BTW. One way ticket might not satisfy immigration. You're a tourist. 3+3 months maximum stay. Then it's visa run to Tanzania and Uganda. Unless you want to shell out 500.000 KES for a K Permit. Plus bribes of course which are usually double that amount. Otherwise your file in Nyayo house will go to to the bottom of the pile of applications. LOL.

You can get fully furnished apartment with 2 k, I pay 1. 5 k per day but I am long term customer for many years. Some pay even less. But this is depending so much how big apartment is and how new and other things, difficult to compare. Also high season and low season.
Doing stairs keeps you in good health.
Other thing, Bug Tree and noise there. Nowadays Big Tree finish their weekend shows at midnight, so that hotel guests can sleep. Except Christhmas / New Year time, then music continues until early morning. There is no difference if you are in your room or outside, it is so loud.

I'm at the 3th floor and I like do the stairs but I'm young, I'm only 63.
I don't go to Casaurina and I find a lot of girls everywhere.

So they / we rent furnished apartments from Postal, they are offered in Airbnb. You can get them for 2 k or 1. 5 k shillings per night, or even cheaper. 1. 5 k is around 45 k per month. High season / low season changes prices.
It was mentioned that Mtwapa is too hot. Many people from North Europe spend time in Mtwapa, using just fan to get air moving, so I think it is bearable. Power breaks are real problem, then your fan is not working, and you have sweaty night. Local girls, they don't get sweaty even if no fan, I have noticed. Mosquito nets are problematic with fan, they stop air moving, hot again. You can buy standing extra fan flowing air directly to you, but then you may get muscle cramps and cough. Mosquito nets, usually full of holes anyway, I prefer to sleep without. Some apartments have more mosquitos than others.
Air condition would be nice but rarely found from Mtwapa, and makes rent more expensive.
If you want to rent unfurnished apartments is cheaper, maybe 12 k or 10 k, or even cheaper if you take poor apartment. But then you need to buy furniture, and maybe pay rent whole year. Which is not problem if you want to spend whole year in Kenya.
There was mentioning 90 k for month. You can rent already room from beach from Indiana or Big Tree for month, if you rent for long time.
There are elevators in very few building in Mtwapa, I know just one, maybe there are more. So better rent from first or second floor. Power generator, only biggest hotels have them. And Eagle Nest and Casourina, you can spend time on those two places while hoping the power come back to your house or area where your house is. If some big transmitter blows up, it may take days.
There are girls yes, main reason for many musungus to come to Mombasa. You can find girls or girl friend even if you are ugly, fat, bald, old. Let's not go to that never ending discussion are girls only after your money or do they like you even a little bit. Economic safety are what many are looking for, Casourina girls are different thing.
I always recommend here not to take accommodation from Mtwapa if you have not been in Africa or even in developing country before. In your first trip take room from Bamburi beach: Sheratton, Azure, Skyrock are near Big Tree. Or take room from Big Tree itself, rooms are simple but cheaper. Or from Indiana, Kahama, Cowrie Shell. Then you can explore Mtwapa and find out if you can stand all the inconveniences that you will get there.
So, Mtwapa (Mombasa generally) is not for everybody and not paradise. But many people visiting there are starting to plan how they could spend European winter time / retirement time there. So it has it's charm (girls being major reason?

I wrote that my apartment is in the Mtwapa Post area, since you have been to Mtwapa you know that there is no scratchings at Posta. Let's talk about the girls. First you write that there are thousands but only in Tinder, then immediately later you write that 13 years ago you found that pussy is the least problem in Africa because women are on every street corner. Perhaps you have confused ideas, too much bad wine? And you continue to talk about bad cement skyscrapers, because only you know Mtwapa, you are Jesus Christ of Mtwapa, no one is better than you. And talk about the elevators, cmon woke up grandpa! No building has an elevator in Posta, go back to your hospice to drink a cup of hot milk, or stop being saccy. Mtwapa is full of girls like any other place in Kenya, but if you're old and toothless and even Kimbo then what you write is true. I understand why you went to Madagascar, there the poverty is so extreme that all the desperate without money find paradise, or some strong new emotion. Please, keep on being in a good mood and sharing your knowledge so we can all save a lot of money and instead of watching a movie with Leslie Nilsen we'll read your adventures.
No attention to what that poor old Neddy writes, every time it is always the same story. He is the best. He knows everything. Only he has the bible in his hand. Think he is the only one to have traveled by matatu or hitchhiking in central africa, but he can only advise you in which brothel of professional working girls you can go. He liked the Ugandan girls who starved to death when they danced at the Kendas Arcade, or that other miserable place called Naiz. If you're a decrepit old man and the girls don't want to go with you can only go to brothels. Lifts in Posta? Ha ha ha poor guy. And he brags about it. For this reason he says that Mombasa is dead. And where he goes? To Madagascar. The kingdom of misery and squalor. Let go of that zombie and enjoy Mombasa with the hundreds of young and available beautiful girls. His are only regrets of a poor old man.
