Posts: 193Yacht lounge & Grill in Mtwapa
I think he meant the Yacht lounge & Grill in Mtwapa. Seems to be more on the elegant (upper middle-class?) side of places. https://youtu.be/sQhxJLZhjNY?si=UbfuNZ9rdiruV1Qb.

Posts: 146Don't mind those who lived in Mtwapa many years ago, we are not interested in nostalgic memories. Read the reviews of those who live there now. Do you want to know which clubs are where to go? I'll tell you. If you are desperate and like low quality at low price go to Casaurina, if you have some money to spend and look for a medium quality go to Screenshot, if you like the beautiful girls of excellent quality non-professional go to Yatch Club. In the latter case it is difficult that you can enter slippers. Simple.

Posts: 193Comparaing the old vs today's Mtwapa
There must be a misunderstanding. I quoted Neddy from a much older post from the time he was still living Mtwapa many years ago. I was comparing it to his recent opinion about Mtwapa just to show how much the place / opinion changed since then.

Posts: 146Forgive me if I express my contrary idea but I am agree with you partially. Nothing to say about the girls, there are dozens in the streets during the day, or on the beach. Who says that Mtwapa is over has confused ideas, maybe it's over for them.

The Legend is closed again for at least 1 year and a half: why do you give wrong information indicating it as a place to go? It no longer exists! The Naiz is also working but always deserted. Maybe you have smoked or chewed too much.

Posts: 21"Pick up a girl on Posta Road".
Hi, may I ask you if, in general, these girls you pick.
Up are like young and attractive? How is the overall quality?
Haven't been in Kenya since 2004 (Malindi).
Just asking. Thanks bye.

Posts: 193Mtwapa the city which never sleeps.
"I have everything within a mile radius. Plus endless entertainment 24/7. Mtwapa the city which never sleeps. Everybody is living there. From destitute Scots, drunkards of various nations on minimum pension, millionaires, tax evaders, retired mafia dons (no kidding), fugitives of all kinds, child molesters, retired Somali pirates, child support evaders. How I know it. I know them all. I listen. But I never speak. You name it, Mtwapa has it. The highlight is every day the expat coffee meeting where unbelievable stories are swapped. (All true of course). Just read the Daily Nation. Its Africa. On the way up posta road (now paved) you pick up pussy at random for a quick relaxation. At nightfall, you head up to chew fresh miraa or smoke natural herbs then head to legends for sweet Congolese life Soukouss or Rhumba. After that to Naiz for a couple of ice-cold tuskers looking at some red-hot dressed chicas. Later to AR Casuarina enjoying the show and listen to sweet bongo tunes from Tanzania. " Neddy, You absolutely loved that place. And you are saying that most of it is gone now?

Posts: 193Mtwapa is not the place where quality expats usually hang
Let's be honest: Most "normal" white men wouldn't even consider retiring in Africa. It's just not on the map. It took me a long journey to end up there. After SEA and the Philippines, I had to be honest about my preferences. I don't expect others following in my footsteps. Africa won't be a popular retirement or monger destination for Americans, for sure. Anyone who is interested in black girls would rather go to nearby DRP, Panama, Columbia, or Brazil where millions of friendly black and mixed girls are open to date white men. I'm just not in the mood to learn Spanish or Portuguese.

Or because they have demons. Drug or alcohol abuse. They are trying to run away from their demons. I knew some of them personally, most of them are dead already. The average life expectancy of a Kano (muzungu) in the Philippines from the time they retire there is about 5-6 years. They just end up indulging themselves to the death. Mtwapa seems to be the place for these types also.

Cafesserie that's where the non alcoholic Expats hang out. Plus there's also the movers and shakers of Mombasa. That was also my favourite café in Mombasa. Talking of expats. A difficult subject. Better to cultivate 2 or 3 really good and knowledgeable friends. Gossipping is rife. I learned to become my best own friend. In Madagascar it's even worse. I speak decent enough french. But. That doesn't mean you can make friends easily. I cultivated some high quality contacts in Nairobi, Mombasa Kampala Dar es Salaam over the years. As well as Madagascar of course. Mtwapa is not the place where quality expats usually hang out. LOL. But you're going to find out. Africa is full of strange people. Millionaires going native. Living amongst the natives. Over the years I met a lot of originals.

Posts: 193Place where there is community
Thanks for all the info. So it seems Mtwapa has the only expat community, and the rest of the expats are thinly spread out in Nyali and Diani. I was thinking of expat places such as Angeles and Olongapo and Dumaguete in the Philippines. But I'm realizing that Kenya is on a much smaller scale than the Philippines. Which is not a bad thing after all. We dont want inflated pussy prices like in SEA. Kenya beats the Philippines when it comes to quality girls. Hands down, absolutely no completion. And that's the priority!

Posts: 689I have mostly stayed in Nyali behind City Mall as it is convenient for the mall and Naivas. Also I stayed some time near Voyager hotel.
Never stayed in Mtwapa it is too far from City mall for me as I like Cafeserie too much.
I have stayed in Bamburi twice for a few months and never had a problem. Cheaper than Nyali. Some people do say Bamburi is not so good but it is the same as Mtwapa surely?

Posts: 555At he moment, arriving with one way tickect is no problem. Many who have come for six month, has arrived one way ticket, then when returning you buy the ticket.

I looked Neddy link and there are quite cheap apartments in Nyali, I am suprised. In good areas. Unfurnished. Unfurnished is not good for guys who come for half years, need to buy furniture every time and then sell it very cheap when leaving. But AttilaTheHun is for staying long time so no problem.
Nyali is more developed and nice place and beach is near. But there you are in closed compound, visiting shopping center, using motobikes and tuktuk or your own car. Boring. I remember AttilaTheHun asked about place where there is community? Mtwapa is more like that, it is someway like a village, after a while you know many people. Also more action and life, but with inconveniences and drama.
Diani is good option if you want peaceful life, it is more quiet meaning also more boring.
Bamburi, in my opinion not a good place.
So, AttilaTheHun, you look around of course, rent room in cheap or expensive hotel and look around. With airbnb apartment you can stay short time in furnished apartment in Mtwapa, surely in Nyali there is same?
By the way not whole Nyali is nice, there are also bad and poor areas.

Thanks for the link to Jiji. As per the one way ticket, I was just figuratively saying it. Kenya offers a 5-year multiple-entry visa (Multiple-Entry eTA) exclusively for US nationals. Since I'm a US citizen, I will apply for it, but I still have to leave the country after 3+3 and reenter. The application fee is $160.

If you want a tranquil life. I'd choose Nyali. No police bothers you there. Whereas in Mtwapa they pounce on you.

Mwalimu.
And BTW. One way ticket might not satisfy immigration. You're a tourist. 3+3 months maximum stay. Then it's visa run to Tanzania and Uganda. Unless you want to shell out 500.000 KES for a K Permit. Plus bribes of course which are usually double that amount. Otherwise your file in Nyayo house will go to to the bottom of the pile of applications. LOL.

Posts: 193Long term rental in Mombasa
I'm going to stay in Kenya. The plan is for a year or more, depending on how I like it there. I only did short trips until now and within few moths I'm getting my one-way ticket. I'm retiring for good. That's why I'm asking about long tern rental options and neighborhoods where experienced Wazungu prefer to live in or around Mombasa.
