Posts: 569This is third owner that I have seen there, probably there has been many more. One thing that never change in Legend is men's toilet. They can boast to have worst men's toilet in the Kenya coastal area. Probably in same condition as what it was then Ricky Mololo build the place. Even Hypnotica renovated men's toilet and many other things recently. And Casourina is currently working on it.

Did you mean to say Likoni, the town off the Ferry? I haven't heard this happening on Mombasa Island but, I have a few times in Likoni.

Burning tire around the neck. Very popular. Also in not so popular neighborhoods on Mombasa Island. Ferry for example. Welcome to Africa.

Ah. But they have good German style potato salad. LOL. I wonder who will be left when all ye olde drunkards smoked and drank themselves to death. The hookers aged with them. Or left to Nairobi where pesa is better. Exactly. You don't want to become one of them. Like the Baker. He didn't drink but probably smoked 2 to 3 packs a day. R. I. P. Well. Fond memories of the past. Congolese clubs fell out of fashion with the youngsters. Only old farts listen to them. The young Kenyan Crowd listens to Gengeton.

The only thing I'm missing is maharagwe in coconut sauce. You can't get that in Madagascar.

Posts: 379The Hardest Part is Getting Her to Leave
I wrote sometime back about hunting in Western. It's the same I do in Nairobi and on the coast. Find the best looking one and make the first move. Avoid the ones with expensive hair and nails. I've met them in "The Village" on my bike, in a town while they're walking, sent "Call me" notes when they're in a group and while riding the train, bus and Matatu. The real skill is getting rid of her.

Posts: 408Actually the "new owner" is the man who built and owns the place for many years, the Congolese band leader Ricky Mololo.

Well I actually I was stating there's an amendment to that as a foreigner citizens won't come to your aid in recovering your items from thieves.

Posts: 117Forget Club Legend. I'm currently staying in an Airbnb in the building next door. Legend is unbearably loud. They have live bands on weekends. It goes on until 3:30 am, and yesterday even until 6:00 am It's impossible to sleep there on weekends.

If the new owner doesn't make some fundamental changes, Legend will be closed again in six months.

Posts: 51I'll explain it to you how the Legend 2 is. Imagine that you have just become a widower, your company has fired you, it is raining heavily and when you arrive home you find that the neighbor has left the gas tap on and your house has burned down. Your cat is burned too. They took you to the recovery center and gave you a slice of buttered bread but it fell out of your hands and ended up on the ground right on the side of the butter. And it's still 10 in the morning. Well, Legend 2 is much sadder. Empty, as it deserves to be, since it is a boring place. Since the afternoon there is this group playing and no one sitting at the tables. In the evening, like yesterday which was Saturday, the situation improves and you can find 4 or 5 desperate wasungu dragging themselves in slippers doing karaoke. Surely they are the same ones who eat the cup of lentils at Zoe's. I've been here for 2 weeks but I feel like I've never moved and if it weren't for my historical friends I don't know if I would have come back here. Who knows, maybe this is really the last time. I don't want to become like them.

How is Legend now that they reopened. From their social post on FB the place looks ok. Live bands and twerking girls and some misfit white dudes singing on stage.

Three days ago, I rode my motorcycle through a village outside Bungoma. I rode through a crowd of people of all sexes and ages. They were surrounding a 17 year old boy they just had tortured and killed. I'm a bit traumatized. He was laying on his back, arms extended in the air, body half burnt with two nails through the forehead of his skull. I was told he was a serial thief and was warned many times to desist. I guess it was 75 percent of that community and are still hunting his partner.
