Where is Bora Bora? Has it reopened? I know about Toscana, and It's conveniently located close to Big Tree.

Posts: 695I never eat at Big Tree only stop for a drink now and then as it does have a wonderful view of the ocean or pop in on a Friday night for the pool party dancing girls if I am really bored.
Toscana I have stopped at once or twice, much better quality place.
Typical 3rd world mentality, low business, increase prices.

But why do you think the rooms at BigTree have never been renovated?
The answer is: perhaps they are full of debts.
Maybe they don't give a damn about customers.
And so customers go to eat at Toscana or Bora Bora.
They drink there, not at the Big Tree.
At the Big Tree they occupy only one chair and this is the right punishment for ignorant management.

They used to charge 500, maybe now 1000, as mentioned here.

Posts: 51It is the result of ignorant management. If you force people to pay 1000 shillings it means you don't understand who you're dealing with, the customer of the BigTree is not the same as the Sarova or the Sai Rock. Also, if your kitchen is bad and your rooms suck, then you're done working. Typical of those who have no experience in the sector. The consequence is that at least half of the old customers do not take the sunbed and have moved elsewhere. Me myself asked very politely to a structure very close to the BigTree to pay for a sunbed and I got it for 500 shillings (without drinks, ok) but to eat and drink I go to Toscana. A further consequence, to answer Mombie, is that the number of girls has also significantly decreased. But surely the most idiotic decision of all is to have banned smoking on the terrace. All failed decisions to try to revive a place already in evident decline for years.

Posts: 84The cats no longer go to the Big Tree but have moved to the Tuscany, they have not accepted the imposition of having to pay 1000 shillings for the bed.

They can't even stand its dilapidated rooms with salt water to shower.
They can't stand not being able to smoke a cigarette after eating, because now the whole terrace is off limits.
And they can't stand the usual semi-deserted weekend evenings that bore even humans.
And so they left. That's all.

Posts: 23What happened to the cats at Big Tree?
I was there yesterday afternoon for the Mombasa Roots Band and only saw 3 cats: an orange one, an orange / white one and the big grey tabby male.

Posts: 379Even if she's with another guy, you can tell if she's interested. You get her attention someway discreetly and if she keeps checking you out, she's interested. Most women out aren't with their husbands. He's likely married to someone else. Kenyan men don't take their wives or steady girlfriends out.

Handwritten? You ask the bartender or the waitress to hand it to the girl of your choice, discreetly, if they are in a group? I guess you give them a tip for that. Do you do that even if there is a man in a group? What if the girl shows your note to others or the man in the group?

Sunday morning and early afternoon rides on their way to church. Say Hello, smile, wave or just stop. Turn around and roll next to them and talk. Ask for a number and call. Successful rate is up to me.
Takes longer to lose them.

Posts: 212I wrote sometimes back about hunting in Western.
The e-book "Eat F*ck Love: East Africa" comes to mind. How do you send them call me notes? You mean when they are in a group, you hand them your card with the writing call me? If they are alone you start up conversation and get their numbers? Or you generally prefer to give out your number? I just wonder about the dynamics when you are on a motorcycle in the middle of nowhere, the only muzungu around.
