Posts: 30Sure thing. Rua Ibijau, 368. Area appeared to be super safe but I think all the nefarious characters know where to hunt just like how perps in Medellin know to hunt in Poblado instead of centro.

Posts: 30Sure thing Vagabundo. I was waiting on the corner of Rua Ibijau and Iberapuea in front of abulding where I had an appointment. Got ou of my uber and whatsapped the garota for apt. #. I did this by ducking into a building's private driveway. Ten minutes went by and garota didn't respond. I crosssed the street and was in front of her building but didn't want to wait in her building's driveway because I didn't want to appear shady so I was on the sidewalk in front of her building. I whipped out my phone to check whatsapp and then when she finally responded, I took my time to comprehend the msg using Google Translate. While I was doing that, an old man walked past me and said something in Porto. Had no idea what he said but he may have been trying to warn me as he was coming from the same direction the thief came from. 30 seconds after the old man passed by my phone was snatched from my hand. The thief was on a bicycle riding really fast and snatched my phone in one motion without slowing down. By the time I looked up, he sped away and turned the corner onto iberapuea. One detail is that he was dressed like an iFood delivery boy with a red polo shirt and black shorts but didn't have the food carrier backpack. I believe his choice of clothing is part of the act. Imagine describing him to the cops. They'the laugh and tell me I just described an iFood delivery boy.

Mistake#2: I should have waited inside her building instead of on the sidewalk.
Mistake#3: I should have never whipped my phone out in public. I walked 5 miles that day and never once whipped out my phone on the sidewall. Always ducked into a building if I needed to use my phone.
Let me know if you want to know anything else. More than happy to help others avoid what happened to me.

Posts: 30Thank you for the tip on phone leashes. I will definitely invest in one. As for transportation, I stick to Uber Black but if I ever were physically threatened, I would give up everything to spare any harm. As it is, on solo trips, I have anxiety over something happening to me due to natural or nafarious causes. My trips are clandestine and my family and friends have no idea of where I am going or what I am doing. Tikis is my 4th solo trip. Came back early from Medellin and Thailand and I'll be going back early for this one. Just gave United $2100 to fly back home tomorrow instead of my original return on April 22nd. After the incident last night, compounded with my anxiety of something happening to me on solo trips leaving my family helpless (SOL) with no idea on how to find me, this will be my last solo trip. I'll be back in San Paola with friends next time around. Tonight, ya’ll can find me in Scandallo. Hit me up if you are going.

Posts: 115Could you share where this happened? Like 500 block Av. Iraí. No need to be very specific.
Moema is getting less safe as the barrio is becoming more commercialized. Residents are moving out so dark biz hours the area is very empty. I toured a few apts and houses, prices are still high but not as high was 2022.

Maybe that can help.

Agree, Its a bummer .I lost iPhones and burner phones, so I feel for ya. I invested in a leash (Vagabundo experience) , strapped the leash to my phone and belt, bought a casing for the phone. Sometimes it slipped out of hands (I think it was Socrates, Anaggie or Axel Hyest experience with the silent biker in a park & slipped phone) I cursed setting the 2FA options that is phone & text only and reset mine for to receive by alternate email too! Good job having full backup on primary phone & being prepared with minimal shit on burner. Once a stupid street vendor carried tray of cigs & candies purposely bumped into me with his tray to snatch & grab phone from pocket. , damn I felt dumb. Bunch of hoes in rio love meeting dudes in groups to get handsy, boom all their stuff was gone (reporte here 18 months ago) Now the mofos on ebikes are silent and fast. , garotas in DR, Colombia, Panama, & Sketchy garotas in BR love searching inside Airbnb spot for specific safes models with phones. one of them will purposely smoke in your bathroom to distract you about the cleaning fee. while searching through your stuff.,I extensively use Love motel.Straight up sleasy rideshare drivers indriver or 99 which ever one had the leasser driver vetting was intentionally going the wrong way following waze thru sketchy places to or from airport (it was reported here a year ago)just give up the phone. In the end lessons for me was my backup data & phone numbers was more important than burner & primary phone itself. Couple nights at scandallo & guaguin scandallo light, plus day time clinicas go a long way. To having a better ending than beginning..unfortunately club gartoas go thru similar bummer experirces as their bags & purses, full of cash, phones are targeted by these useless mofos. lastly I extensively use the manage credit card feature to block and unblock my card . unblock when i am ready to use and pay, block any other time

Day 1:
Flight from EWR was uneventful. I got through immigration quickly. Less than 10 minutes. Grabbed some cash from a Bradesco ATM at GRU. Started working WhatsApp to set up some meets but the one girl I spent a ton of energy on has been flaking. Ride from GRU to my Airbnb in Moema for painfully long. Traffic here ain't no joke. Checking to my Airbnb was smooth and was able to check in at 10:30 AM as I booked it from the day before I was arriving so that I don't have to putz around till a normal 3 pm checking. Unpacked and made a run to the Supermarket. One girl from photo that I have booked for Monday insisted on a R50 deposit so I had to make a trip to a Lotera to send her the deposit via Caixa. Contacted around 5 girls but none confirmed to meet. I strolled over to an erotic shop to pickup a toy and then stopped in at a restaurant to grabe a bite to eat. The chicken over white rice and beans hit the spot. I doused it with the local picante sauce. It's a good thing I can handle heat because I had no idea a Brazilian hot sauce would be so spicy. Iverupuera mall was close by so I stopped in to have a look and grab more cash. Took an uber back to my room and started working WhatsApp again to pop my Sao Paolo cherry.
Marjorie:
Found this girl who works out of her apt in Moema. Hopped in an Uber and arrived at her building in 5 minutes. Pulled out my phone and let her know I was there. She took a while to respond. Here's where my first 12 hours in Sao Paolo go South. All day long I was careful not to flash my phone. I would duck into a stir if I needed to use it. For whatever reason I let my guard down in front of her building. An old man walked past me and said something. Didn't understand what he said but it turns out he was trying to warn me. 30 second later, a dude on his bicycle zipped past me and snatched my phone just as I was reading a message from Marjorie. She sent me her apt number. I should have ducked into her building when I was whatsapping her. I was definitely shook for a few minutes. Had no idea how I can contact her to let her know what happened. Had to walk back to my Airbnb. It was only a 10 minute walk but given what just happened had me in no mood to walk back but I had no choice and it was dark too. Got back to my Airbnb and quickly grabbed my primary phone to initiate security protocols. My backup phone was a Pixel 9. That was strictly a hobby phone so I didn't have ANY of my important financial stuff in it except a PayPal connection in the Uber app. Logged in to google and set the stolen phone to reset, erase, and delete. Logged into PayPal and logged out the Pixel 9 connection. Removed the Pixel 9 connection from PayPal. I had my 1 Password on the pixel but wasn't worried too much about it as it's built like Fort Knox. I removed the Pixel connection on 1 Password to as a precautionary measure. Took a deep breath and reached out to Marjorie to let her know what happened. As insane as it may sound, I went back to her building to carry on with our arrangement. Had to get my mind off what just happened. She was a great fuck. My dick got sucked like it's never been sucked before with a lot of spitting. I've never had anyone spit on my dick while blowing me. Huge turn on it was. I was going to duck into 57 Friends after seeing Marjorie but I absolutely cannot afford to have anything happen to my primary phone so I returned back to my Airbnb and called it a night.
Folks, I have been in Sao Paolo less than 12 hrs and got my snatched cell phone cherry popped. Kinda bummed about it but gave myself a pat on the back for having the foresight to walk around with a backup phone and not my primary. In hindsight I should have gotten a cheaper backup which is exactly what I'll be purchasing tomorrow. Ain't know fucking way I'm walking around here the next 5 days with my primary. My primary will be tucked away in my hotel. Be carefully folks. Bring a cheap backup with nothing important in it and have a plan ready to secure your information in case your primary or backup gets snatched. And the most important thing, do not whip out your phone in public no matter how safe you think the area you are in is.
My plan to execute the rest of my trip safely:
Going to avoid girls apts if possible.
I’ve got a girl for Sunday for 24 hours of which 3-4 hours will be spent at a swing event. Staying at Hotel Lido. I’ve got 4 hours booked on Mondayat Hotel Lido with deposit girl. Will probably stick to daytime clinics action and maybe a night or two at Scandallo. Everyone, be safe and be careful. Especially first timers.

I used Babbel and a few other sources for a year, but mostly Babbel. I already had good Spanish, and now I have decent conversational Portuguese about simple, everyday things. That's all I need. Besides the translator tools on my phone, which still come in quite handy when you get stuck!

As others say. Don't sweat it just go. But if you do want to learn a bit I strongly suggest Pimsleur as the best starting point. Because it's all audio it's really helpful because the way Brazilian Portuguese is written is completely different from how it sounds. If you see it first you are kinda fucked. Better to learn by ear and come back later to see how it's written.

Stuff like garfo, faca and colher. Don't need fork knife spoon to chat up a scandallo girl but comes in handy as you go there more. The other thing is they do have quite a few listening exercises and they talk very fast (but have a slow it down button). This is helpful for improving my listening skills.

Posts: 1184Well do you speak Thai? If not but you probably still got through your trip there okay. If you saw my reports on my recent trip you will see that I had a pretty good time and I can barely manage Porto. I spent a few months on Duolingo so I was able to speak a couple of useful travel phrases but as soon as girls and other locals started talking, I was lost. Duolingo is not so good at teaching us to listen to conversational languages compared to speaking or reading them. But Google Translate can to the rescue and aided the communication almost effortlessly and I didn't find any of my interactions with locals hampered even though there was a language barrier. I still ordered at restos and eateries okay, got help from transit staff when needed, got through tourist attractions (even though a surprisingly alarming number of staff who work in these areas don't speak English) and enjoyed my sessions with the girls of which only one throughout my entire trip spoke any English.

The only drawback with minimal Porto is that I wouldn't be able to enjoy an extended period if I were to invite a girl overnight and / or for a day to be like a vacation girlfriend as communication totally dependent on Google Translate would be kind of crappy for that long a time period. But it was never my intention to do any wifing up on my first trip to Brazil. Having said that, if I do return to Brazil with the intention of wifing anyone up for an extended period of time that I would have to get better at Porto just to have a better connection.
So as others already mentioned, for a first trip just go and see what Brazil is all about. It is still helpful to learn some elementary Porto phrases as it is anywhere in the world with even greetings as you know then locals will be more receptive.

I speak a little chit-chat Portuguese. Nothing real deep. Yes, it helps with negotiating with the girls. More importantly, it will help you connect more with the girls and just the locals in general. Smile and ask the girl how she is doing. Ask her where she's from. Does she like to dance? You get the picture.

Kkk yes absolutely worth it. Besides those young hot garotas are best incentive to learn porto quick kkk. I was referring to dudes trying to do scandy & guaguin "Scandallo Lite" on budget and not doing a session in house with garotas . if your on a budget. I shared my approach to doing boates on a budget and was asking about their success and How? Casarao, caster club are lower price

Posts: 209Yes, it's worth a trip. I speak no Portuguese and a little Espanol, but ultimately some girls speak a little English and you use the translation apps anyway. If you have enough of a budget (less than you'd spend at a place like Globe, more than Thailand) then you have access to some great experiences in Brazil. I'll share more on my recent trip soon, but the short of it is that Sao Paulo is worth a trip if you have a decent budget and a little experience dealing with the girls to sort through the obvious scams. There's a limited number of those, but so long as you know what you're looking for and have a stable internet connection you'll be fine. P.S. - stay at an international hotel chain like the Renaissance, use Ubers, and all's fine.
