You guess wrong, daily minimum wage in Thailand is 300 per 8 hour day, make that in practice closer to 400 in Bangkok and that is usually for high school finishers, If you end up washing dishes in the kitchen its materially less.

Spot on. I often cannot understand Thais trying to use English words with me. I am not that flexible. I ask them to speak Thai instead. It's more than an accent problem, it comes to pronouncing wrongly. The reverse happens also when we pronounce badly, however Thais get used to very common mispronounced words, and Pattaya would be a great example. However when I mispronounce badly enough on less common words, Thais don't understand also. People can't really adapt to excessively strange words.

So I give clues on how to get closer to Thai pronunciation, for any interested. Many would not know that correct vowel sounds are critical in Thai, unlike in English.
