Posts: 2662I'm a fan of Casa Pascal as well. As a true Dutchman I like to eat bread for breakfast and lunch, and Casa Pascal's fresh baked bread is great.

I like to go to the Devonshire every now and then, because they have great Thai food as well, with some unusual dishes. I do not care much about their English 'food'.

Posts: 611Breakfast Buffet with American Food
My favorite breakfast buffet is at Casa Pascal, which is on the east side of Second Road, south of The Avenue complex, across the street from the Avani Resort. This is an upscale fine dining place with a serene dining room and some outdoor seating as well. The spread features something for everyone. Several types of fresh baked bread. Good coffee and tea. Cold cuts. A few Thai dishes. If you're looking for American breakfast food, they cook eggs to order with multiple types of meat. I'm a big fan of a hashbrown-like dish called rosti. The buffet is served until 2:00 pm.

You can also get "American" breakfast food at any of the places that serve pub grub. The Sportsman, Robin Hood, Witherspoon's and my personal favorite the Devonshire on Soi Lengkee. All those places cater to the ex-pat crowd, so if you've never tried an English Breakfast have at it. They usually have numerous sporting events going whenever they are open.
I'm afraid all these places are a bit south of Soi 6. And you'll be going against the one-way traffic on Second Road. Best bet is to work your way over to Soi Buakhao and head south.

Posts: 18757I have some buddies that would always like to go to the Hilton in the evening for drinks. It finally dawned in them, why are we coming up here paying 300 baht for the same drink that we could get at another place for 50 baht. You are paying for the ambiance.

Posts: 667Awesome but I do notice the women who work the strip now are nowhere close to as hot as they were back in the days. Don't get me wrong they still got gorgeous women in that country. They just don't look like how they looked 20 years ago. Now I know I just got played when I went to Phuket it's all good still had a great time there.

It may be priced at 350 or even 400 now. But it is available for outsiders. So are the swimming pools (400 baht).

Posts: 2662The Hilton breakfast buffet was around 750 baht or even more, IIRC, when I looked into it, but that was pre-covid. I don't know how much it is now. And according to their website the restaurant where they serve it, is closed for maintenance at the moment.

Posts: 3442I hear, but you might know better than me prior to Covid, they say the Hilton was pretty good, especially Fri Seafood day. Not sure of the cost but years back, group of guys from Softball use to visit regularly. Also recently guys at Iris Rover mentioned the Holiday Inn great buffet.

Posts: 1269Yes, racism is messed up. That said, it's almost never about the "3 Indians 1 beer problem", and not about deodorant or trousers either. It comes down to how a certain demographics of long-standing customers is unhappy with your presence.

They want to exclude you, and the bars are obliging in order to keep them as customers. It's similar to how certain venues (like Soi Thaniya in Bangkok) are Japanese only. Japanese punters don't like the barbarian Farang messing with "their" girls and spaces.
The main difference is that Japanese (and East Asians in general) are comfortable with open racism. Farang are not, so they come up with various thinly veiled excuses like trousers or clean shoes, and would certainly probably welcome you if you said you were from the UK to maintain the pretense.
Personally, I'd go to places that accept me (fortunately there are plenty), and not even try to give money to those who act disrespectful towards my group, even if they made an exception and allowed me to be their customer.

Posts: 2662The Altera Hotel has a nice buffet. I believe they are charging 200 baht, if you're not staying there.
