Looking back, I genuinely don't know whether to laugh at my stupidity or thank my guardian angel for working overtime that night.

It All Started With a Telegram Message.

So, last night, I was minding my own business, working my usual shift, when suddenly I received a Telegram message from an old contact.

Now, here's the funny part. I had absolutely NO memory of who this person was. Apparently, I'd contacted her through an MR portal sometime in the past. Couldn't remember her name, her profile, or even which link I'd used to reach her.

For context, I use a Dracula-themed username on Telegram.

And the message went something like:

"Hey Dracula* are you still looking for a fun night? I'm available now. We can hang out."

You know the drill. The usual sweet talk, teasing, and everything designed to get a guy excited.

And guess what? It fucking worked &.

She sent me a few pictures, including one of those disappearing, view-once photos. And damn, she looked pretty good. At that exact moment, my brain officially resigned from its duties. The little guy downstairs had taken over as CEO.

We started chatting, exchanged the usual messages, negotiated the deal, and eventually discussed where to meet.

She mentioned a hotel called "La Rooms", and later shared another location for "Hotel Dream Connect Comfy Rooms, Gurgaon". Everything seemed pretty genuine. She even agreed to a video call once I reached the hotel, saying she'd need around 15 minutes to get there.

The timing was perfect, too. My shift ended around 10:30 PM, and the hotel wasn't too far from my workplace.

What could possibly go wrong? Spoiler alert: Almost everything.

Red Flag #1: The Bathroom Excuse.

I entered the location she'd shared into Google Maps and started driving.

On the way, I tried calling her on Telegram. No answer. But she was actively replying to my messages. Her explanation? "I'm in the bathroom, getting ready. " Fair enough, right?

I mean, someone getting ready before meeting you isn't exactly suspicious. So my horny brain happily accepted that explanation and continued driving.

(First red flag ignored).

Red Flag #2: The Wrong Hotel and Room 502.

Now, here's where the story takes an unexpected turn. The location she'd shared apparently pointed me toward another hotel near Hotel Dream Connect. I wasn't familiar with the area, so I blindly followed Google Maps.

Reached the location. Parked my car. Messaged her "I'm here."

She immediately replied, asking me to book a room and share the room number. She'd be there in 15 minutes. So I walked into the hotel, spoke to the receptionist, and booked a room. Got my keys, went upstairs, and settled in. Then I tried video-calling her again. No response.

Another message arrived. "Still getting ready in the bathroom. " At this point, I should've started questioning things.

But nope.

My brain was still on unpaid leave.

I figured I'd already booked the room, so I might as well wait. Then she asked for the room number. I replied: 502 and suddenly. She started sending laughing emojis.

"There is no room 502 in Dream Hotel. I know this hotel very well. I'm a regular there."

I was like, what?

I literally had the room key in my hand! So I clicked a picture of the key with 502 clearly visible and sent it to her. And that's when the entire conversation changed.

"Which hotel are you in?" "Why did you go there?" "I told you to book this hotel!

She suddenly seemed more concerned about the hotel than anything else.

My first thought? Ahhh, so this is some hotel commission scam!

Maybe she'd convinced me to book a non-refundable room at a particular hotel, and now she was pretending she couldn't come because I'd booked somewhere else.

Honestly, I thought I'd figured out the whole scam. Turns out, I hadn't even scratched the surface.

Red Flag #3: "Guruji, Hotel Ka Naam Toh Bata De!"

I told her:

"What's the big deal? Your hotel is nearby. I've already booked this one. Just come here."

She went silent for around 35 minutes. Then came another message "Share the exact hotel name."

Now, remember, I was already comfortably settled in my room. Shoes off, relaxing, mentally preparing for what I thought would be a fun night.

And here's the ridiculous part. I didn't even know the complete hotel name I booked! I'd followed Maps, entered the building, paid for the room, and gone upstairs. I vaguely remembered something like "Complex Residency," but wasn't sure. So I started heading downstairs to check. Meanwhile, my mysterious Telegram friend was losing patience.

And then came the message that made me pause "Guruji, hotel ka naam toh bata de!

Wait a fucking minute.

Guruji?

Now, I'm not saying women never use that word, but the tone suddenly felt different. It sounded more like how guys casually talk to each other. For the first time that night, something genuinely felt off. I shared the hotel name anyway and immediately tried another video call.

Rejected. Again.

Her reply? "I'm on my way. We'll meet face to face. "

Yeah, right. By now, my instincts had finally started waking up.

Unfortunately, they were about 45 minutes late to the party.

Red Flag #4: "Are You Alone or With Friends?" And then came the message that changed everything. "Are you alone or with friends?"

Hold on. Why would that matter? We'd already discussed the arrangement. Nothing about bringing friends had ever come up.

So I asked:

"Why do you want to know?

The response was something along the lines of:

"Just asking if you'll be doing it alone or with friends, since we've already made a deal."

Now that was suspicious.

Suddenly, it didn't feel like someone arranging a casual hookup.

It felt like someone trying to establish whether I was alone and potentially vulnerable.

And that's when my brain finally returned from vacation. This wasn't looking like a fun night anymore. This was starting to look like a possible setup. But the biggest shock was still waiting downstairs. The Moment My Heart Almost Stopped.

Here's the crazy part.

While I was still chatting with this Telegram account, I'd already made my way down to the hotel reception. The person messaging me had no idea I was standing there. And suddenly, the receptionist approached me.

He said something that sent a chill down my spine. "Sir, someone is calling the hotel and asking who booked room 502 and how many people are staying with him. "

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Someone who was supposedly coming to meet me was calling the hotel directly to find out:

- Who was staying in room 502?

- How many people were inside?

- Was I alone?

At that moment, every little red flag connected. The repeated video-call refusals. The obsession with the hotel name. The sudden frustration. The questions about whether I had friends with me.

And now someone calling reception to verify my room and occupancy. I can't prove exactly what they were planning, but this was way beyond a normal suspicious conversation. Something was seriously wrong. And I wasn't interested in sticking around to find out what. My Guardian Angel Was Working Overtime.

I immediately told the receptionist: "If anyone calls again, please tell them the person in room 502 has already checked out because of an emergency. " Thankfully, the guy understood the situation and cooperated.

I also requested a room change, which the hotel arranged. Then I blocked the Telegram account and the phone number, since we'd exchanged numbers earlier. And just like that, the entire encounter was over.

No confrontation.

No dramatic showdown.

No attempt to find out who was behind it.

Just me, standing there, realizing how easily a moment of excitement could've turned into something dangerous. I'm genuinely thankful things unfolded the way they did. And the most ironic part?

The wrong hotel might actually have saved me.

Think about it. If I'd reached the exact hotel they wanted, booked the expected room, and blindly followed every instruction. Who knows what could've happened? Sometimes Google Maps takes you to the wrong place for the right reason.

Plot Twist: The Night Still Had an Unexpected Ending.

Now, you'd think that's where the story ends. But nope.

Apparently, the universe had one more twist prepared. The hotel receptionist turned out to be a pretty decent guy. During our conversation, we discovered that he was from the same village area as my parents. Small world, right?

He was having a drink on the rooftop and invited me to join him. I already had a bottle with me, so we ended up sharing a few drinks, chatting about the whole incident, and laughing at how ridiculously the night had unfolded.

And then. The guy actually arranged another girl through his own contacts.

I still don't know whether it was an attempted robbery, blackmail setup, extortion racket, or something else entirely.

And I don't want to make claims I can't prove.

But someone repeatedly refusing video calls, demanding my exact hotel and room number, checking whether I was alone, and then calling reception to verify those details?

That's more than enough reason to walk away.

Looking back, I ignored multiple warning signs simply because I was excited and wanted the situation to be genuine.

The lesson?

Never let your excitement override your instincts.

Don't blindly trust strangers online, don't share your room details with unverified people, and if something starts feeling wrong, get yourself somewhere safe.

And perhaps the biggest lesson of all.

Sometimes thinking with your d**k can put your entire body in danger.

I'm just grateful I got to tell this story instead of becoming someone else's cautionary tale.

Stay safe, boys. And remember: when your brain goes offline, at least make sure your Google Maps is taking you to the wrong hotel.
