I go to soapies every now and again but have no interest in your theories on the link between their quality and the economy. It's not at all relevant.

I think the internet and proliferation of online social media are actually more to blame. The economy actually rebounded from 2010-2014 due to Bangkok being seen as a potential business / lifestyle center in addition to the massive influx of tourists. Thailand was the place to travel to for a good 3-4 year stretch. During this time, a lot of the hotter ladies skipped entering the sex scene and instead partied for 4 years with all of the young men who flocked here to party full-moon style.

The economy was never that good under Yingluck. Sure some improvement from the financial crises had to occur, but never a full recovery, and economy has never been actually good since then. Southern Thais were hurting when the rubber industry bottomed out. Common people were hurting as prices for cooking gas went up a lot while price of fuel dropped encouraging higher use of cars, when traffic jams already bad. Stupid policies of Yingluck caused most of economy to go bad again.

For the Soapy Industry in Bangkok, what the tourists are doing is mostly irrelevant. Tourists would make up a very small portion of the business that Soapies used to do in the good years. The major customers are Thais, plus foreigners (a lot Asian) that have lived and worked here for a significant time.

Tourists would be much more relevant to Soapies in Pattaya and Patong Beach, not so much in Chiang Mai.

A bit fanciful, the bit about partying for 4 years.

Obviously online sex hookup has an effect on all mongering. Does this make many Thais change from a Soapy visit? Who knows? I suspect not, because online hook-ups take a lot of time and research. Thai men that visit Soapies are known to be normally changing girls very frequently, as they like variety, and wish to avoid getting hooked on particular girls. Thais with wives have not got the time to do this research online to get a continuous stream of new girls, I am guessing, and would get caught. Maybe they want girls dressed as school girls at Kapoo club "spas".

Ninja was nice not exceptional, I am not an anal guy, and maybe she specialises in it, she is nice and bubbly, and having heard so much about her in the forum I had to try her. Snow white however never disappoints on the whole, my favorite in snow white would be Emmy with whom I had a nice session last time, she was missing in action this time due to an accident, some other time perhaps. Yes the total numbers of customers at many Soapies declined badly since quite a number of years. The numbers of girls has dropped accordingly. Soapies in pre crash 2007 were going much better than now. Some closed completely, others were vastly reduced. The exact reasons, are probably many.

Thaksin came to power around 2001 and this marked the start of a decline shortly afterwards, due to clean out by some extra religious guy in the parliament of young girls and girls from Myanmar (Tai-yai). All working girls had to have registration papers etc.

Little doubt the financial troubles of 2007-2008 caused an acceleration of decline. Guys just did not have money for FKK. The economy never fully recovered. The Baht to the Dollar stayed high compared to former times. Thais in general believe the economy is quite poor right now, under the military government. Getting money is considered more difficult than in the Thaksin spurge years. Also the new government started a new cleanout of supposedly "Trafficked" girls. In old times, the non Thai girls and young girls were very popular.

Emannuelle declined very badly I thought until it got it's boost by merging with Amsterdam. I was previously an Amsterdam customer..

Would like to share with you a place which strictly should be avoided at all costs, I had the worst experience ever at a massage parlor today, namely B&B massage in sukhumvit soi 24/1.

I wanted to be a bit selective as it is my last day here, and wanted to leave on a memorable note, started off by visiting Mango, small selection only 4 ladies, no lookers, went on to 102 massage next door, 4 girls again and 2 Japanese customers already. Had seen a trio of young Korean boys on the hunt coming out already disappointed. Said thank you and left from there as well, next door into addict massage which was already displaying their collection to 2 Japanese and one Indian customer, fancied one Dame but she immediately got chosen by the Indian customer, so off I went to try my luck at 24/1 in the next lane, Lane seemed empty as not many girls were sitting outside, probably it was very hot to sit outside this time of the day anyway now comes my big mistake, saw few ladies lined inside B&B massage for a Japanese client who was about to get up without choosing anyone. I walk I and he says his thank you to all the ladies and leaves (wise man now I think), I sat in his place and was gazing at a collection of 8 slim girls. With 4 of them especially smiling at me. This place was more expensive than the others I generally go in for 2 hours however their 1.5 hrs options was for 2500, Snow white or Mango charge about 2300 for 2 hrs. So the big decline in Soapies is not just about the most recent years, it has been happening for a long while. I was a big fan of Chao Praya 2 with a large girl line up, up until about 2005 or 2006, when the decline was already happening despite not having reached the stock market crash. Returning after the crash, the line up was decimated. No comparison to its former glory years. So back in those times, I started surveying lots of other Soapies. I had been using also J One, Mona Lisa, Cleopatra, Bangkok Cozy, Nataree and Poseidon sometimes. Several of these closed. Utopia was going strong before the crash but was also decimated. It was a high class place not so cheap. The Plan to build La Belle in place of Mona Lisa came at exactly the wrong time. I assume investors lost on that one big time.

Yet amazingly new Soapies do pop up, e.g. Soulmate on Rama 9 close to The Office (formerly ChaiLai and then called Colonze 4).

I just came back from club 102 first time there is a nice place own by a french guy with french design even smell like a french working girl house about 15 girl available half is very good looking but they are busy no room available for 40 min so I left and go to addict next door only 4 girl none that I like, I will go back to the hotel take get some sleep and go back to club 102 tonight.

Wit ratchada soapies, I have always had great results when I walk into probably most all of them. So often that nothing is available. I think this may have to do more with customers than with the girls. A group of 3-5 thai men could buy the girls up for 2-4 hours in the penthouse rooms maybe? Also, I found that guys would often show up to meet their pre-booked girl. So there is a hidden layer of talent with girls who don't even sit outside. I saw you also posted about melee so I'll segue into that in the next paragraph.

Meree (or melee) is probably crap now. I used to really like the place, a lot, back in 2013 and also wasn't too bad in early 2015. But I think it has declined a lot. Nearby there is a place called avita and it is mostly dead in there. It's guys who mostly all pre-book, but there is talent in there, at least in 2013. I was once there and for some reason waited like 30 minutes (noting to do) and papasan brought out this really gorgeous petite girl (the kind that would get sponsored so fast if she worked in a gogo). She gave BBBJ in the hottob and was super flirty and GFE the entire session, not the standard script. And it only cost like 1900 baht! Anyway, that was AVITA, not melee. Melee is about 200-500 baht more expensive, but has many more girls working if you just walk right in. However, I have been to Melee 3 times in the past year, all bad selection. When you say models upstairs, you need to be specific which place you are talking about. Poseidon has "models" upstairs, but they were not special enough to interest me. I was not introduced to The Lord girls upstairs, not sure if they had that, unless it was the very top categories XL and XX. I don't recall seeing any of those, but their prices were really high. Ocean had upstairs area but there were no girls there.

My visits to Meree (sounds like May-ree) and Evita (sounds like Ay-wee-taa) were more like 2008 or 2009, so I have no clue what they are like now. It's good that these two are right opposite each other. 80% of Soapies have declined over the years. The poor state of the economy means Thais with money to spend on girls has declined a lot. Meree and Evita would cater to mainly Thais, I suspect. Thanks for tips about the hidden talent. Unfortunately Papasan Spec is rarely similar to mine. I never even managed to find a girl good enough looking at Nancy (Colonze 4 or is it 3?) so I would start pessimistic about Meree too. I think it is critical to show up at an optimal time. e.g. I previously went to Victoria Secret in daytime, to ensure I could find it, and line up was just to tiny daytime.

Just a quick review since Syggs has posted already about it. I really like this place. The M girls are the best choice in my opinion. Darker skinned ladies are in the 1,700 category. Not to my taste but others will love them. Great value at 1,700. I chose an M lady at 2,600 Baht. Some were 2,800. Anyways some real model types under 3,000 Baht. Will repeat for sure.

Some day soon I will check out Meree and Nancy, since I know the prices there start equally low like Ocean. Perhaps Catherine, Colonze as well. Low prices itself is not enough. Some of the places may not have enough girls concurrently in the line up, or just uglies. Places like Biwa, Hawaii, Riviera, Sai Fon, etc. Tended to be in this category, of very low prices but few girls, and girls just too old and ugly to be worth going there. Noar was one with a reasonable line up years ago. I would look there again. Close to junction of Ekkamai and Rama 9. Not exactly convenient to all.

La Defense was slightly more up market then the others mentioned with girls unfortunately used to mostly East Asian customers.
